Hey guys, I am wanting to buy a G&P defender from evike, actually I DON'T want to buy it from them but they are the only website that I know of that carries it.

The gun is a G&P Defender - http://www.airsoftpost.com/limited-edition-defender-full-size-airsoft-custom-rifle-p-30096.html

What do you guys think about the gun? I have read reviews on the site but, they do not seem to promising because the reviews are from evike and I heard that evike will wright their own reviews to make you want to buy them.

thats where my second question comes in, is evike trust worthy?

Some people will tell you evike is crap. From my personal experience, they are great. i have made multiple purchases from them and it all took about a week. I paid with paypal and everything went smoothly. As for the gun i know nothing about, but evike is a good company.

I bought from them a couple of time and I myself have not had any problems. So I'll give thumbs up. All I have bought threw them is gear.

If you are a beginner tot he sport who has never purchased a gun before, I would suggest a more reputable retailer such Airosft Arms or AIrsoft SMith. Additionally, as you are choosing a G&P weapon, I would strongly suggest you begin reading up on how to work on a Version 2 gearbox.

If you are an experienced airsofter than knows his way around the gun he is purchasing and is comfortable fixing problems himself, then Evike can be fine for you, as long as you are sure you know what you're buying.

That being said, there are other retailers who can special order G&P guns for you if you simply ask. Just because you don't see it online doesn't mean they can't order it for you.

Multiple times I have ordered AE BB's and they have both times given me Matrix ones.

I just ordered from them a week ago, package got here just fine, except terrible box condition with shipping tape wrapped around the whole thing, but other than that, the items inside were perfectly fine.

Well I bought an apperently kings arms pof flash hider, and I received the pof flash hider by element, that is 15 bucks cheaper, so they ripped me off ( btw I could tell it's the element one because it was raw metal, and the kings arms one is a nice tone if black)

G&P guns are awesome. I had a G&P Special Operations about 2 years ago and it was rock solid. G&P makes, in my opinion *take it for what it's worth!* the best M4 line out there. I congratulate you on making a good decision.

I dont understand why they dont list the Matrix stuff for what it is, DBoys. My buddy ordered a bunch of metal Matrix mags from them and they sent him a box full of half opened half busted DBoys mags. He called them and they said Matrix is DBoys so why not list it as such?

In all of my experiance with evike I have never had a single problem with them. I ordered a m110 cylinder recently and it was at my doorstep within just a few days in great working order. Other than being a bit slow at times to proccess an order, which isn't a huge deal to me. I give them two thumbs up.

Matrix is their generic branding not a specific brand but several different manufactures.

Hey DieselBreath, I have to agree with Texx.

If this is going to be your first entrance into the world of AEG's I would definately look at one of your local reliable airsoft retailers. Purchasing locally first not only gives your the chance to hold it in your hands, but make a repore with the store. In most cases these stores have onsite techs that work on and know the guns that they sell. If you have any issues or questions that come up with your weapon, you have an instant resource.

I understand, that the particular model that you have your sights set on may not be in the inventory of any shops close to you. However, if you haven't visited any of them, I would check into it.

I personally doesn't like them. Me and my brother ordered two guns from there, and my gun was back ordered. So I sent an e-mail, they never answered and I sent another after 1 month asking if I could pay some more money and get another gun...never answered me on that on either. So after 3 months our guns came. Then I had already orderer from redwolf(ordered that gun after 2 months and it took 8 days before it came)

So I personally dont like them that much.

As far as evike, most of the time things will be ok. However, if something does go wrong, they are difficult to deal with. I once ordered a product that came broken. I paid to ship it back to them, and the guy told me that they would include a bag of bbs to pay me pack for the shipping cost. I got the fixed product perfectly fine, but no bag of bbs. i lost $10 because of their mistake. not pleased.

A word to the wise.. if you have a problem, don't email them. CALL THEM!

good news, (to me I guess) I just sent a message to airsoftgi's youtube page and they said that they could special order the G&P defender for me. I have ordered a couple of things through them before and they are great, I have not heard too good things about evike so I think I will stay away from them.

Also texx, I'm not new to airsoft but thank you for the heads up.

I have heard great things about G&P's and I think my sights are set on the G&P as of now.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help!

Evike is like Walmart in my mind. They have almost everything you could want (in terms of airsoft), but that's why some people hate them, because they're a "big retailer". Personally, I've never had a problem with them. After a decent amount of research, and speaking with the techs from several websites, my brother and I both own G&P's. They have been nothing but the absolute best guns on the field. I have their m16a1, he has an m4 variant, both are amazing out of the box. Their externals are unparalleled and we were both surprised at how solid the guns felt, incredible. The gearbox shoots a consistent 370fps out of the box, and the m120 motor puts out at least 20rps with a 9.6v. I've had many people ask me what my gun is on the field, especially after they heard it shoot. G&P's 6mm bushing gearbox was terrible. We both have the 7mm gearbox (they don't really use the 6mm gearbox anymore) which is amazing from my several months of abuse thus far. The gun you're ordering has an 8mm gearbox, which I would assume is even more reliable and outstanding. There's a reason why people always buy G&P parts to use on their guns. . . . .

^^^^ I love G&P, so far I've put probably a couple thousand rounds through my gun (g&p m4 ras ordered from kurt at amped airsoft) and its amazing. No other way to put it about the g&p's, external, internals everything is the best I've seen and felt. Almost effortlessly the gun shoots 20+rps with just a 9.6. Chronoed at 380 out of the box.
Stay with the g&p dude, you'll be happy with a good reliable gun (unlike all of the people who have terrible experience with CA's and keep buying them I had an experience with one myself). Not to mention since g&p's had the 7mm and 8mm gearboxes out I've not seen or heard a complaint of bad construction, and still yet haven't seen a complaint of newer ones like all the broken CA posts on this site alone. Don't get me wrong CA seems to make some nice guns, but for almost the same price the g&p is a completely different level.

I've mainly bought from them since I've started playing and I've had no problems. Just buy brands you know though, avoid their Matrix brand stuff.

I have this exact weapon. The original listings on Redwolf.com were that it was a special edition. Only 1000 of them were ever made according to them. Mine is number 607, I got it right before Christmas. It is a great weapon that does fire at roughly 20 rounds a second on an 8.4v battery. It has a G&P m120 high speed motor in it. Mine chronos at around 360 with .2 and around 330-340 with .25's, got it checked at AirsoftSmith's store.

Since most of the parts that are being put into this particular weapon can be bought from most reputable dealers, it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to say that Evike.com might have put it together out of parts? Or maybe had a stash of them setting off to the side back when they were being made?

Of a fun side note. The body of this AEG is also made for a conversion kit for the WA M4 GBB. Since the body is closer to the size of the real steal, the dust cover does not close on the AEG's fake bolt. On Redwolf.com, they also have this same body put together to be a GBB.

She is a great weapon again, very good pick. I don't know if it is an original production run though or not. But if it is anything like the one I have, you'll love it.

I use them for certain things like parts (one of the few places that carries like everything) but they arent always the best. For example; one time I ordered 2 bottles of .20 5000rd TSD Bio's. Instead of those I received 2 bags of .20 5000rd Matrix Tracers. So, not only were they not in easy pour bottles, they were the wrong brand and they were not bio's. Evike refused to do an RMA which ticked me off.

I've ordered from them on multiple occasions, and every time i swear its my last. The first thing i ordered was a rifle, grenade launcher, green gas, a grenade shell, a bag of bbs. and 2 mags for a utg sniper. The package came as a rifle box with a smaller box taped to it. The smaller box contained the gl and the gas, the rest of the items, they opened the gun box and threw on the gun. Awesome shipping method.

Also had to do an RMA through them, which took over 3 weeks, when i called i was told to email them, and it seemed it took a week to respond to each email i sent.

I have to say they have a good selection, and competitive prices, but for professionalism i always go with GI or Redwolf.

You can sometimes beat evikes prices on Airsplat, which i did recently.
Take that ********.

I have read this a few times to decide if I think it violates the 'no opinion' rules... I think you are asking opinions but I think in a way that I can answer within the rules.

My personal experience has been fairly up and down.

When I check the Airsoft Arms and Airsoft Smith and they dont' have what I want, I can almost always find it on Evike.

My first order was delayed by 2 weeks because the item I ordered was out of stock, even though the site listed it as in stock. I sent them 2 different emails asking for clarification of the issue and didn't get any responses. I had to call the store to find out the item I wanted was out of stock.

I ordered a G&P 120 long type high speed motor and the one I received came in a plastic bag. I put it in my SCAR and it wouldn't fit. (it slipped into the grip correctly but it wouldn't hit the gears to turn them.) At the same time I also ordered a motorized mag loader and it seemed to be packaged correctly but it was only able to load between 20 to 30 BBs in each mag.

I emailed Evike to replace things. They eventually responded to me with an email that said to use this website to electronically submit my return/replacement request. The site didn't work. I was able to download the outline of the form, fill it out, and email it to them. They said I took to long and they weren't going to honor my return request.

I ordered a 2nd G&P motor. This one came in the blister packaging. I took it out, and it worked perfectly.

I've ordered a handful of parts and BBs from them, and they show up in different levels of packaging. (Sometimes they seem to pack things nice and others they toss things in random box.)

While I can't say I love the company, they haven't 100% screwed me over. They have shown me horrible customer service skills, they have shipped me obviously opened/used merchandise, and they have left their inventory on line status lapse in a way that did not warn me that the products I ordered was not in stock.

That's just what happened to me. Not proof that it will happen to everyone.

I've been buying from them mainly now but recently I've been ordering from AirsoftSmith because the shipping is faster. However if AirsoftSmith doesn't carry it then usually Evike does.

I haven't had any problems with evike but 400 dollars is a lot of money if I'm wrong.
I personally wouldn't buy it because it's one of their custom guns not one straight out of a factory I've seen stuff (not from evike though) where whoever moded it broke a piece and super glued it back together and he was out 350.00 bucks.

I just ordered a WE Hi Capa 4.3 from them.
I'll tell you how it is when it gets here.

I've been on vacation for the last week, but I'm back.

Anyway, when I got back I got my Evike package.
I ordered it Friday, got it Thursday.
Pretty good shipping, so far so good.
The box was in pretty good condition, a little dented but nothing major.
I open the box and see that they give me the wrong gun.
It's a gun of equal value (WE Hi-Capa 5.1 Caspian), but I wanted to stay away from 5.1's because of their size.
It's in good condition, apart from the magazine. The spring-loaded slide on the magazine doesn't stay back, so I have to hold it back myself.
I'm not gonna complain or send it back, but just be prepared to get something other than what you ordered.

Between my friends and I we have placed many orders from them. Only the last order did I ever have a problem. They took forever to process the order and shipped it ground when it was to be 2 day. They did blow me off and pretty much told me to stick it. One call to the BBB fixed this. On the other hand, my CYMA ak broke 3 days out. Shipped it back and they shipped me back a new one. Pros and cons to any online retailer. I like to buy local as much as possible.

I got my G&G m14 and everything went smooth. The box was in perfect condition along with my 4 midcaps and boonie hat. I ordered the item on a Friday and received it the following Thursday so the shipping was pretty fast. All in all, I would order from them again.
