Okay, so after taking a round to the integral red dot on my P90 and sending it off to that big lens grinder in the sky, I'm wondering about the durability (or lack thereof) of other red dots with which people have experience. Can anyone provide reliable information on which optics (particularly red dots) they've used that have survived - or not survived - hits at normal combat ranges?

Thanks,

- C.

mine hasnt been hit, but im scared ****less that if it does it will be ruined and there is 90 bucks donw the drain. i remember before the hack there was thread going on a subject like this and someone posted about taking some old goggles and cutting out a piece of the lenses and placing it inside of the front lense with glue to give it a little extra protection. i forget who posted it, but i hope they will read this thread and enighten us with better detail then i can.

i believe it was one of the strikers. Hey, jaeger, check your private messages :). Sorry to hear that the P90's sex has been neutered :(

There are specially made mounted systems that fit onto the rail in front of a sight, that has a plastic circle that basically blocks anything from breaking it, - and it was hardlock that was talking about it

You could prob search and find them pretty easily on the internet, iev seen several pictures of it.

Also, There were several people with ideas and what they did, from the killflash, to simply a plastic piece of glass over the end - or those scope covers that come with some scopes. Many ways to do it.

I have been using Butler Creek See-through scope caps for over a year now. Got one on my Guarder Aimpoint. Like everyone else here I would hate to lose my expensive replica to one bb, thus the scope protector. In one game its integrity was tested too. BB hit it and cracked the protector. $5 later and a few days waiting and I had a replacement and my Aimpoint was fairly safe and sound again. Point blank it may not stand up, but at the ranges we generally see they do the job. The are also useful because they also protect against branches, etc. that can also destroy your toys. They can be found at cheaperthandirt.com and come in several sizes so make sure you know which one to get.

My BSA 30 mm bit the dust today from a shot. Can you get good iron sights that mount on a p90?

I believe the P90 actually has iron sights on it - it ahs them like on the side of the red dot on both sides for both handed people.

Apologies for the poor info, I have the P90 TR. It has a a very poor iron sight. I was just wondering if a better one could be mounted on the rail, and if so, who makes one.
