Great day. Could only stay for the morning missions. I think I shot everyone and I had to cut off a limb because I was marking my arm with a knife.
Pics up soon...

Great Day, plenty of fun things to be said, my favorite was when fourman and I ambushed a squad of four, those four showed great sportsmanship when i checked if they were over shot, also, grats to the guy who got us on the surrender, overall, Great Day!

Had another great day guys. The games today were pretty good in my opinion, especially the airfield minigames that were held at the end. Be back at the next event.

I had a great time and it was nice getting to meet some new people an play with old friends. I also thought tan did much better than I expected us to do with the numbers advantage but it actually ended up being pretty even for the most part. I'd say having to find the black guys and bring them to brown town was my favorite game of the day. But I think I am going to jump in the shower, eat, and then sleep until 2pm Sunday because I am so tired and sore. Overall great game and I'll be back for the next one.

I had a great time today. Thanks Blade.
Thanks Blade and Strikers. I liked the new scenarios you guys ran. The 12 on 12 airfield fight was good, and linking up with the black squad was another good game. I also liked how you turned the walk up the hill into a scenario. Ha, I had a good game and I was glad to get out.
Andy, once again, you are a life saver. Thank you so much.
I will be back out soon.

That was our squad that you guys got. That wasn't over shooting at all.... just a VERY nice takedown! :D
Also, it was McDork that got you guys with the surrender. It was kind of funny when he went over there to do that. We were trying to get our group back together just outside of the woods to work our way up the back side of the hill. I saw him walking towards us for a few moments. After that, I turned to one of my teammates to tell him something really quick and when I turned back, he was completely done. I got on the radio to see where he went and he said "I had to make a quick detour for a few surrenders". Couldn't help but laugh.
You guys were a lot of fun to play against. The pleasure was all ours.

perfect day for some airsoft and a very smoothly run event. Well done strikers! I think everyone had a lot of fun with the 12 v 12 scenario. My favorite part of the day was search and destroy the black team. That game covered a lot of ground and was a blast.
Theres a lot more I could say but im tired, sore, and sunburnt so I'll skip the rest.
Good to see a lot of familiar faces! I will be putting up pictures when im not feeling so dead. :D Oh and I think blade should give me an extra key to his van for safe keeping :P

It is was a perfect day indeed. In the 70s, no mud, no rain, no wind. How more perfect could it ever be ?:)
Now, I really tried to do something different yesterday. We played more fast pace and CQBed missions in the airfield this time and I would like to know what you truly thought about them. What it too unsafe? not fast enough? what ever comments you guys have to say (I prefer the negative comment so I can improve) please post here or email me at blade@teamstrikers.com for more confidentiality. Amazingly yesterday, the bruises and face shots occurred more in the wood than the airfield or browntown.
Anyway, I will post more later, I am running out of time for now.

I don't think you should change anything except, we need better enforcement of the no full auto rule. When the tan was holding the airfield, it was the last 3 guys in the tower (me and 2 others) we were taking a barrage of full auto fire.
strikers_blade
04-19-2009, 09:28 AM
Was it full auto fire or simply couple PTW players :D (yes, a ptw on semi can shoot as fast as many other full auto non-ptw guns)
When I was playing, I never heard a full auto in the airfield.
Blade, I liked the games in the airfield. The new additions to the Shoothouse were really good. I guess just keep building it up, I feel like that is the premier spot at Springfield and I really like attacking and defending it.

Since when is there no FA in the airfield?
strikers_blade
04-19-2009, 10:22 AM
Since we tried yesterday :D
And when we say no FA in airfield, it is applying to buildings obviously.
p.s. the 12 vs 12 games were all in the building area only.

Great day Saturday. The 12 on 12 matches were fun for something different; it was action packed because everyone knew you had to get after it - no time to be patient. The 'escort the black team' scenario was good too. Blade, you are very good at giving instructions, but I guess it makes sense to focus even more on the full auto rules - not because people used it inapproriately, but because people complained and got jacked up about full auto at times when it was legal; for example, I believe a SAW (or any other gun) in the tower is okay shooting auto out onto the field ... but there was tremendous griping about it. Anyway, everyone needs to flex a little and not get too cranked up about things, unless there are real safety issues like goggles coming off. One other instruction note - people need to understand they can't run up behind a group of dead guys and use them for cover. It's one thing if the guy in front of you gets shot; it's another to sprint 40 feet and do a second base slide in behind a dozen dead guys. I'm not uptight about it - but people need to know that's not what it is about. Thanks to all of you for a good day out there.

Twas an excellent game, and I would like to commend everyone on both sides. Thank you Blade for all your hard work, and for not giving me grief about coming late.
I agree with everyone, the short ops were awesome. Quick, intense, and adrenaline inducing. Gotta love it. Obviously it would get old if you did a whole day of that, but it was fun to get a little less serious at the end of the day.
It also occurred to me that it would have made a great warm up at the beginning of the day, to get the bloodlust flowing and get people pumped up. Plus it was 12 on 12, so you could start early and then just throw people into the next group as they arrive. Just a thought. It worked very well at the end as well.
I think my lesson learned was to make sure I bring more water. I brought what I thought would be enough, but it sure went quickly. I might also have to rethink my loadout for warm weather play.
I had a good time playing with all you guys. This was the first time I've made it out to this part of the state, and while I don't think that I'll be able to do it often, this was definitely worth the 3.5 hour drive.

The 12 on 12 scenario was the most fun I ever had at an open play because of the adrenaline and the speed needed to eliminate the entire team quickly. Running through the shoot house was the most fun because you never knew when someone was going to pop out of a corner. Overall the day was great.

I am with you on that. Me and a friend brought 8 water bottles to split between us. Not nearly enough, by lunch I had drained my camel back as did my friend and after lunch which we used water too I had to buy a few to stay hydrated. I'll be looking at around at least 8 bottles per person on a hot day instead of 4.
I'm not sure how long this has been going on as I missed a few ops in between feburary and April but I thought having peoples names on the computer and calling them back into the briefing area was a lot better than having to hold on to a ticket. I felt it was more orgainzed and made it easier on the players for not having to hold on to a ticket and the organizers because they had an exact headcount and who was where.
I also did like the 12vs12 very well, I thought it was new and interesting and I had a good time playing in them. I would like to take the time to appologize though. I did have full auto on during my first 12vs12 game. I came late to that game as my SAW ran out of battery so I when I came back I asked blade what was going on and I guess he forgot to tell me semi only during that game. I honestly had no idea and I'm sorry if I lite anybody up.
I also thought the last game of the day after the 12vs12 where we had to run up the hill and defend the log was great I didn't get to play all that long in it as I got shot out once we got close to the log but it was an *** kicker having to sprint up that hill and then having to hold the log.

Is it possible to use the entire field? Split everyone, half do a brown town mission and half do the 12v12? Just thinking, some of the teams, would enjoy a smaller mission of just themselves. This could be an alternative to killing time hangin out on the sidelines.

I offered it before going to the 12v12 but looks like only few wanted to stick to Browntown. Now it was obviously the first time for many things yesterday and I will go from your comments to improve the ideas we used. If it means splitting the whole group, I will have to figure out something . One thing I don't want is turning into a paintball style (various fields with various teams all together). I want to reserve such style for the "combat mission" project.
The whole issue I have with Full auto is not all players will think about switching from FA to semi when they get too close to the buildings so if we say yes to FA and people don't think about switching, it becomes a safety hazard. If we want to truly leave the full auto at any given time, we would have to limit the FPS at 300-350fps regardless where you play in the field.

I think this could be a great idea if properly executed. Could try having 24 OD/ 24 Tan at both browntown and the airfield (12 at a time from each team for 5 minutes). Then switch between the two places after a couple rounds. Worth trying atleast once I think

Agree with Hillslam. The 12vs12 will be, if used again, to the 1xx series. As you guys said, this is a good game style when you want to get some quick trigger/adrenaline time but nothing more.

Blade - Great Job with the games Sat! I really enjoyed the Airfield matches and having been out of airsoft for a year it is amazing to see the changes to the field. There is certainly enough variety offered at the field to see many different style games. The 1xx series games will benefit highly from the various types. I am anxious to see what types of MilSim scenarios that can be derived for the 2xx series with the expanded terrain possibilities. I personally like CQB, assualt/ defend, extraction/ vip scenarios and I think you have plenty areas now to choose from.
On a side note: To all that played on Saturday I saw several acts of sporstmanship and commraderie that I have not seen in a while. I didn't hear or see anybody getting mouthy or fighting which is refreshing. I'm sure this has a lot to do with the leadership of "The Strikers" running these events. I don't know if it was the weather, the players involved, everyone being euphoric getting out of the house from the long winter or what but it is good to know that the sport of Airsoft/ MilSim is alive and kicking!
Thanks to all and lets do this again real soon.

The alternative is abit of a time waster as well. If you have 100 people show up and only 24 at a time can play 12 v 12. Thats 76 people sitting out. Running two sites at once leaves less down time, even with a 5 minute walk between browntown and the airfield. I also dont mean that each group of 12 walks all the way back and forth, I mean that half the players stay on their respective sides for a couple rounds, then switch.

Ninja, Actually, I would not do a 12v12 if we had 100 players ready to play. We had about 50-60 players when we did it last weekend which allowed us to have a quick turn around time. But again, this is the kind of games you do to wake players up and get them pumped :D

I had a great time at the event. Blade and the Strikers did a very good job of keeping things going. This was my first time at Springfield and it was worth the long drive (actually, I was surprised how well things actually ran- not knowing what to expect). I still don't know what to think about all of the ATV traffic on the field... but beggars can't be choosers I guess, since I know of nowhere else with that much space to play anywhere around.
I was on the tan team. It was enjoyable to play against so many well coordinated green teams. Whoever the all black uniform team and the Vietnam Tiger stripe team was, it was great to fight against a challenging opponent (even though I don't know how much a challenge I was!) I was really impressed.
Unfortunately, work will keep me away until late summer or early fall, unless can sneak away for a day. Thanks again.

Good thing B2187101 mention this, the ATVs are pretty much the curse of Springfield. The magic number for the owner is 100. this is (or at least was) what it takes to let me request "no atv" for the day. As I can't promise we will hit the 100 players mark at the events, I usually don't take the risk of a penalty fee.
Being said, I got confirmation last weekend that I am allowed by the owner to kick the ATVer off the airfield (where it is usually the best place to find them). So we are not completely doomed.
For those wondering why we let the ATV be around, I will say 2 things;
- Our fee is not jacked up to compensate the lost of revenues to the owner.
- I don't want to come back one day and find half the buildings destroyed.
- It is all about give and take. We let them be? we can keep building the field without too many hassles (you guys saw any paintballers at the field lately?;) )
If we are respectful and nice with them, they will be the same. If we are not, they won't. As in airsoft, the ATVer also have their share of morons who doesn't want to respect the rules but for Springfield, playing hardball with them won't do any good. It is much easier for us to be nice and simply ID the troublemakers than trying to play the big guys against them. The owner will take care of the morons, don't worry. As I mentioned before, there is only a small portion of the ATVers creating problems but for the most parts, they understand and respect us...actually, many of them are even playing airsoft with us now. I noticed some of you got an attitude with them last Saturday and while I know it sucks, you did not help the relation. If they came bogging us later in the airfield, don't wonder why....

Good point Blade. I've actually witnessed a few players still trying to take pot shots at the ATVers. The bottom line is: don't. If we piss them off, they will retaliate one way or another. And like Blade said, the buildings are at risk, as well as the occasional swiping of Airsoft stuff like AEGs. So let's all just try to get along with them. Even giving them a push when they get stuck in the mud, calling 'cease fires' when they come to close, etc., can go a long way to helping the relationship.
