I'm an event organizer for other games, but we generally play out at parks, and don't have guns. I'm new to organizing airsoft groups, and I was wondering what sort of legal measures are necessary for keeping it on the up-and-up.

Moreso, what sort of places are already established places (preferrably Northern Ohio) that I could contact and discuss?

Under the scenario discussion threads, I posted a BASIC description of a new game in development... Airsoft Melee. I'm looking for indoor settings that can get up close and personal, as much as I am looking for places outdoors, probably wooded, that would be cater to point-blank combat.

Thanks for your time and ideas.

Slinger,

While some CQB games are hosted from time to time and some fields are building MOUT-style environments, it has been the goal of this community to take the "personal" out of the "up close and personal-" style playing that you seem to like. Having people swinging foam swords, knives, daggers, bat'leths, etc. is asking for trouble in my opinion. I can just imagine someone being smacked across the face while turning a corner and there being an altercation. Because of this, the amount of physical contact that's usually allowed at games is relegated to a shoulder tap to indicate a knife kill or a high five for doing something exceptionally awesome. At times there are hugs or sometimes more if you hang out with my little cohort...

Airsoft, like SCA games and LARPing, has its own set of rules and culture around it. My advice to you would be to attend a few games that we host and see how we do things before trying to create an entirely new game. It will probably save you some grief in the long run.
