View Full Version : Op. Shark Hunt
Great game guys, Every one out there, pleasure playing with you, and big kudos go to the TAC guys putting on one Hell of an event.
This was by FAR the best AO event I've ever played in. 4 hours of missions, and 2 open play games, probably an hour each at least.
The rules were excellent, and so was all the play, and the field, of course, Is awsome. Though, I am BEAT right now. (I feel bad for all the people that have to drive back to Southern Ohio :D ).
The missions were great, the open play was just crazy. I beleive the final head count was 53 people. All togeather, Not bad at all for one of the first major N.E. Ohio events.
Kudos to both teams, My team mates were great, and the Serbs were a great enemy. (Special Kudos goes out to the girl with the m60 on the first mission in the woods with me. Brave soul i tell you.)
The only bad thing to happen to me at the entire event (Besides blade, and me getting the hell beat out of me from running probably close to 40 miles) Was my RPK took a crap on me.
Hope to see you all soon again, it was an awsome time that i will DEFIENTLY not forget. By far, my favorite event so far.
P.s. Dont get infront of D_man and his m203. Even if you are on his team, He'll still hit you with it. (Death to those 168 round m203 shells of MF'n doom.)
P.S.S. Special thanks to team TAC for being such great hosts, and putting on an AWSOME event. I am for lack of better words, it was Awsome.

Really had a great time today :D
It was nice to see team TAC pull of a fantastic event with it being their first, and even with some little, simple problems, I felt they did a great job. I'm sure everyone who attended can agree that the senarios where nicely designed to allow both sides some advantages.
I hope everyone able to come up here enjoyed their field as much as I always do. can't wait for your next event guys ;)
But now, I'm dead tired, so I'm gonna sleep for the next week or so...

Sharkhunter was excellent. Well organized, good scenarios, good field. A little less wait time between scenarios would have given more games, other than that glitch, everything was marvelous. Kudos to Team TAC. Also, Strikers, great security for us VIPs. Good to see everyone again.
Drive home was uneventful.

Agreed that the organization was good, the field was very cool, and the missions were interesting. I also echo Spook thought that the wait time between missions was too long. It sort of took the edge and excitement out of me waiting around for up to 45 minutes between games. On the other hand the maps marked with locations and the signs on the locations made orienting on an unfamiliar field alot easier! Thanks guys for a great opportunity and good job!

Thanks to TAC for a great day of killin. Definitely better than Saturday's PA game even though I broke my gun. Transporting the VIPs was pretty fun, hopefully I wasn't too aggressive with u three. LOL. Playing on a 3D field added an extra mix to the game for some of us. Glad to play with AO style with AO peeps.

KUDOS:
Thank you all for the great event!
FEEDBACK:
By far one of the best organized events I have been to.
Registration went very smooth.
I liked the way you set up the chrono station.
Great job with the maps and the land markers.
Well written and interesting scenarios.
Great job with the props!
The medic rules that were used, work VERY well when the players want a simulation. It's much more difficult for someone to actually have to do something under fire rather then just holding their hands on someone for a certain time while they are laying down… So if bandages were pre-tied, or simply given to the wounded in order for the player to be healed… that was NOT how the system is setup (to my knowledge) and that could have ruined the experience for them selves and others as well. It's important to say I never had seen this happening but the potential was there.
For the scenarios the only beef I had was the "race to the hills" affect that happened after every mission. Perhaps I'm lazy but it didn't seem right how teams had to constantly recover the ground they had after every mission. The playing field seems big enough for the teams to go out and setup a type 'respawn' camp somewhere with a safe zone, re-supply, and com-center. From that point the scenario could be launched in a continuos manner keeping the game moving quickly and constantly and an actual front could be made between the two sides. Then for a particular mission the organizers could hand out objectives as they arise keeping the feel of an ongoing conflict. The overall diversity of the missions kept this affect to a minimum though.
However, as it's been said the down time between each mission was too long. Sometimes it felt like the missions almost ended early so we could wait around longer for the briefing… especially that last wait… :)
Anyway, just some thoughts…
All in all a successful event and I look foreword to the next one you guys put on.

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of TAC to thank all of you who attended OP:Sharkhunter yesterday... As organizers and part-time players in the event yesterday we all had a great time :)
From a planning and staging standpoint, we feel that even though our organizational and mission planning skills were good, it was obviously a great learning experience for all of us, and one that we’ll use to improve upon when planning future events.
Once again, Thanks go out to you the players for helping make OP:Sharkhunter a reality :)
We hope this to be the first in a long line of successful TAC sponsored events bringing ultra-realistic milsim to the Northeast!

Well I was with Blade and a few other Strikers at Betrayal Saturday and the OP SH Sunday. Because we were all tired and exhausted from the late night driving too we showed up at 8:30am Sunday morning at the field. We expected to be the last one to show up but that was not event the case, we were the last group ready I believe though. So from the team please accept our apologies if the game started late because of us. We did play a few non-scenario type games before lunch though.
As for the game itself I thought the armband thing the medic had to put around your arm was a great idea so it takes a few seconds to revive you. There is all kinds of medic rules I played before and this was one I liked.
The map and the signs in the field to indicate key positions was a good idea for people without experience of the field to get to know it pretty quickly, good idea.
Scenarios were ok and I'm sure Team TAC learned from this experience like they stated already.
Downtime between games was deadly for me. As we had the very far Headquarter it was a very annoying not to know what was going on until an organiser showed up to tell us what was going on.
Game time was fun as usual although I was commander of the Serbs for the first 2 games. I gave/forced the title to TV Casualty at the 3rd mission so I could get in the action for our last game before we had to leave.
Overall a good event and would return for more if they plan another big one up there.

Okay, I uploaded some pics from the event. However, most of them are only of my team and such and there are no in game "action" shots :(

Hi Everyone,
Just like to say thanks to the TAC Team for putting this event together.
I had a great time and look forward to more events at your close location. The missions were planned out well. I didn't mind the down time between missions as I am an old Marine I need more re-coup time. :-)
The morning missions were good because they helped us newbies to learn the various landmarks of the field.
The only improvements I see are having 2 mission briefers, having the mission breifers stay at their teams IP,plus a person at base camp(to relay info back for the next mission) so the team isn't like the Serb team that was left hanging out in the woods for an hour. :-(
Thanks,
Michelle

I'd just mirror Seal6007's thoughts on the event, there's nothing more I'd say from that perspective, however, from a personal view:
It was great to see the teams we've played against at the field in the past again, I think all of you really helped make the event enjoyable, so kudos!
It was also cool to meet many of you for the first time! I hope to see you again at our regular open skirmishes :)
PS: I've posted a few of the pictures that our CameraGuy(tm) snapped with his digital camera. The rest of the pictures were all taken with a traditional 35mm camera, and the pictures have not yet been developed. As soon as those pictures are available digitally, I will post an update.

Wow! all i can say is WOW! what an amazing game. I had to leave at 2 PM, but in the 4 games i played, what a great time! oh my. The field was just awesome. But my favorite part, was meeting everyone i talk to on here on a daily basis.
Gotta do some shoutouts
TV Casualty, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you. I loved fighting with you, and hope that recon team helped when overtaking hills and so forth. You are a very kind person, and you wield your weapons very effectively :D Also, tahnks for letting me use the autoloader ;)
Helena; Thank you and TV for correcting me on the driving directions/time. It was a major help. You are definately an awesome person. I mean, you were fighting with 2 mp5k/PDW's (one had a navy flash supressor i saw) and thats just amazing in my book. It was a pleasure to meet, and fight with you :D
J Fro; I loved fighting with you man, it was a blast. You keep a cool head when the bb's start flying, thats a very good thing :D And correct me if im wrong, but you got shot in the nuts? i hope your ok bro :(
Bildo; Haha, love the name, Your a great guy man! quite the killer on field :D
Zoe; What can i say, you are one of the kidnest people i have ever met. I cracked up when Brent almost stepped on that M733. I used to think those weapons were puny, but your skill with it has shown me otherwise. Your a ferocious fighter :D It was a pleasure to meet you, and I hope to play alongside you and the rest of BSTAB very soon :D (P.S. Did you test your mask? howd that turn out?)
And BSTAB As a whole; I fought with you guys 75% of the time, and loved EVERY MINUTE of it! you all are definately a force to be reckoned with. Give my regards to everyone on your team that was playing (and even if they werent :D )
Strikers : Wow! what a awesome team. I really enjoyed playing with you guys too. You work very well with each other. Franc is deadly with that APS-2! I cracked up when he took down Rambo Jr of the UNRRF from across the field with it lol (no offense man ;) ) Snake Eyes, Your an awesome guy. I like your choice in weaponry, and style. You are an awesome guy, and your M16A2 scares me still ;) Aegis, What can i say man, your awesome. It was a pleasure meeting you and fighting with you. I hope your hand starts doing better :D Punisher, your a great commander man! I loved your armalite, and the noise it puts out. I didnt really see you on teh field, but i bet you kicked some ***. It was nice meeting you. Any other strikers i may have forgotten, im sorry, but i know you all were very nice, and a force to be reckoned with :D "I love combat depot!"
JNA Recon Team: Brent (Maynard), Ed (Spook), Clayden (Bones), Huey (Andy/Huey), Bryan (Mp5), and our main pointman (Dude with AK/sorry, the name slipped my mind :( ) I had such a wonderful time playing with you all. Unfortunately we were cut down our last game by a M60 atop that hill. But we went down fighting and took about 4 of em with us :D Myself, Brent, and Clayton were the only survivors that round, and we were just readying to get some positions on your hill when the comm report was "Game is OVER!" lol. You cant have your cake and eat it too. I think we did well as a whole, just not as well as we could have done. I tell you though, buddying up with clayton was awesome. We both ran out of all of our ammo on the last assualt i played, and we covered each other as we reloaded lol! thats teamwork :D
Great games guys, Great SFOR team, it was a pleasure meeting everyone!

Where to begin?
It was my first airsoft game ever, so instead of really talking and buddying up with fellow AOers, I kinda was recessed and looked around at weapons, gear, etc. Wish I'd spent more time talking to individual players, but the easiest way I can explain it, is that I was flabbergasted by everything at once. I'll be more friendly next time, hahah.
Unfortuneately me and Agent didn't get to stay for very long, and had to leave right at the beginning of a game that was ready to start just about. Talk about dissapointment there. In all honesty, I didn't get any confirmed kills in the 2 and a half games I played in, but I didn't get shot out either, heheh. I was gradually getting more aggressive and less defensive in playing, and I knew that the game I was preparing for woulda been the one, but...darn...
Got into the last real non-scenario game with just me and Andrew/Agent, and it being 2 on god knows how many, and never being on the field before, not much happened except moving, saw one UN guy, he was out of range, etc. The next game the 4 unaffiliated JNA players (me, Andrew, Huey, and...A5, I think was his name) went up the middle of the field, and I was in the rear of those 3, covering, scrambling up hills, no action for me that game to speak of.
The next, and my last game of the day I was with the recon team, led by Spook, ended up spread out in different positions, I was still behind Spook when I noticed a boonie in the distance, on a persons head, and he was looking at us-I told Spook, we got down, bbs started flying, we had found the M60 that had us pinned that entire game, and took half of the recon team out. I just remember movement, fogging, and bbs ripping through tall grass.
Awesome experience, lost a Desert Eagle magazine, but I've been told that Spook found it and picked it up, thanks man. Nearly did step on that M733, heheh, it was leaned up against a tree and I didn't even see it. Got a ton of ideas for my M16, it seemed really lame amongst all the decked out M4s and AKs at the event.
Thanks so much for letting us play on your field, and I hope sometime in a few months me and Agent can brave the trip from KY to northern OH again.
Oh yeah, I wore a black t-shirt with the same symbol from my avatar in white on the back, just to help out with identification, if anyone remembers me, lol.
Oh yeah, I had tremendous fun, and I can finally justify all the money I spent on something I'd never experienced before. I'm gonna try to play about twice a month during school, that sounds realistic enough. AO rocks.

Just a quick comment for me - not too much time cuz I need to get myself some sleep tonight to make up for the 8 total hours of sleep over the past 2 days :p
It was an awesome time playing with the SFOR I loved it. Great meeting so many new people up there that I only had the chance to meet online before.
Including but not limited to:
Foxtrot
Dman
Bummer
Alpha Six
And of coarse the rest of you, Glaeken, and the strikers. The rest of you guys was nice meeting and just spending the day with you guys, great great time and game together.
Hope to make it up once more this year if not sometime next year when i can drive myself.

All I can say is that it was amazing. I wish that I could have stayed longer but the 2 open games and the first mission were great and I intend on making every effort to make Tora Bora if things all work out for that event. I'm never going to forget Bummer shooting that deer, who could? Anyway... It was great and meeting alot of you guys was a great time as well. Hope to see you all again at the next big event, whatever it may be.

I want apologize about that, its not like i purposily seeked her out. i was just sweeping the other side of a berm, with gun at ready, i crested the top, seen movement about 5 foot away in 6 foot high weeds, being alone in indian country, my brain said shoot, so i mowed the grass. i honestly thought it was a person running away in the tall swamp weeds. Once i seen it was a deer, i quit shooting. I know i didnt hit her, she never called for a medic, she just ran away. again im sorry, i love animals, hell i was arrested for it twice.

You know you got your game on when:
a.) You slept in until 4 the next day.
b.) Your socks couldn't be salvaged through the wash.
c.) Your shoes had to be washed off in the bathtub.
and finally...
d.) You had a good time.
By the time Spook and I arrived, I had been awake for 18 hours straight, which needless to say, caught up with me a little later on in the game. First senario that I played was a blast. I was on recon and Agent and I flanked to keep the U.N. SOBs from sneaking up on us from the far left ridge. We laid suppressive-fire like crazy (we had to eventually alternate back and forth returning fire). Great team work there..!
Second game I played was the VIP game (and I was one of the VIPs). Now that was intense. I probably hauled way more *** than was needed, but it sure was fun. Whoever the second VIP was; sorry! I nearly trampled you when we were retreating back into the woods. I was practically riding the guy piggy-back style when we were climbing over this log. Strikers did a hell of a job. The VIPs didn't even have a close-call the whole game. That was damn good team work.
Third game I was pooped. I was on recon and we flanked all the way out towards the creekbed. I believe I was the first casualty of that game, and I didn't even wait around for a medic. By that time I reached about 21 straight hours of having been awake - so I think it's fair to say a little down-time was in order then.
Great organization, great game, great teams... Only thing I had beef with is the time in between games. We probably could have squeezed in one last game there at the end, but everyone left on the Serb team was just tired of waiting around.
All-in-all.. I had fun, and I hope everyone did too!

Don't feel bad Bummer, I got charged by a pissed off baby buck while clearing brush at the RT PA field a couple weeks ago. I shot him, he turned and ran off. He was fine. If he had been full grown and more sure of himself, I could've been in deep dooky.
BTW gang, he really DOES love animals. HIDE THE FAMILY CAT!! (hehe)
