L85 Carbine

I just got this gun in the mail from Airsoft Atlanta. It seems pretty good, very solid, at least 7 pounds. Anyone else have one or know if its a good springer to have?

I own the full foregrip version of that gun, which is basicly the same as your gun. Heres my basic take on the gun:

Pros:
Heavy
Shoots Fairly Far and Accurate
Easy To Cock
Easy to disasemble and mod.
Great gun for Springer wars
Good for Plinking and as a replica

Cons:
No Hop-up
Magazine loading tool is easily broken or lost
Back Heavy
Worst scope ever
The safety gets loose after some use, and can be engaged just by turning the gun on its side, which gets annoying.
No useful Iron sights
Fairly small Mag capacity

I would recommend you get 2 more mags or so. It would help out a lot. Peace.

I own the fullsize version as well and would have to agree with Rig on the pros and cons. Though I think the mag capacity is plenty for a springer.
Also..heavy...yes...7lbs....I really doubt it!! Not even my fullsize version is 7lbs. I have a KWC M16A2 Carbine...I KNOW it weighs 8.5lbs. If I hold the 2...the L85A1 doesn't come close to the same weight! Try putting it on a scale....it may weigh 5lbs. Or if you don't have a small precision scale available get your bathroom scale. Weigh yourself....then weigh yourself with the L85 and subtract the first from the second. Now you "should" have a relatively accurate measurement of your L85bullpup. :)

Hey firecam, since this was your first post, I guess I'll wlecome you to the forums! :)

Um, I'd like to know, is the flashlight on there actually useful? you see, I want to get a laser/flashlight attachment for my TM uzi and I can't decide if I really want a flashlight on my gun. In the dark, it seems like you'd get shot by everyone. Here's a pic:

I recently aquired one of the full sized versions of this gun and am working to convert it to an AEG :D

It will utilize FAMAS internals and feed from M16 mags.

...Now I just need those internals....

the flashlight on it is actually not to bad for being a free, it could be a little brighter. The useful thing is the mounting kit, im planning on trading the flashlight for a laser sight.

I'd be quite shocked if it really was close to that high.
Guess I need to go chrono my fullsize now just out of curiosity......have to wait until it's light out though...still don't have the bulb adapters for indoor chrono use yet.

NEVER, and I mean, never trust the gun stats provided by a retailer. More offten than not, they will boost the rating to make it seem like a better product. I doubt that thing tosses BBs faster than 275. I've been hit by mine, and its nothing to draw a yelp out of me :cool:

Would anyone reccommend this gun as a first gun? I've made many posts about many springers, and I still don't have one (lol). And, what is the power/range on this gun compared to the UHC MP5 SD3? And, could you put a mock supressor on this gun with the HFC silencer kit? Also, do you HAVE to use .12g bb's in this gun. I ask because it says you have to on Airsoft Atlanta. And, on another note, contrary to what most of you say, I have read on ASR that the L85A1 HAS hopup. Also, how crappy is the scope?

The L85 definatly does not have any type of hop-up what so ever. I have taken mine apart numerous times, and believe me, when a retailer says it has hop-up, they are not being very honest with you. All there is on the end of the barrel is a rubber piece to stop the bbs from rolling out of the barrel.

It wasn't a dealer that said it had hop up. It was a guy on Airsoft retreat that said it had hop up.

I went out and did some target practice, its a good gun, the scope is nothing special, but helps for aiming. FPS is probably over 250, it comes out hard. I was able to hit my target 13/25 times at around 60 ft.

I'm sorry...I just have to laugh.....over 250??? MAYBE with .12g or .11g BBs it might reach 250. I just chronoed with .2 Excell and got 191 average. Highest being 195.
I can say accuracy is very good with .2, but they drop off rather quickly. I've fired a good number of .12 out of it in the past and they do go a LOT farther, but the slightest wind will knock them around.
For springer wars....I'd pick this, the UHC MP5 or the HFC MP5.
And I'd still have to say it'd be lucky to weigh in at 4 or 5lbs.
Still I WOULD recommend it for a nice springer!

Haha, yeah thats kinda stretching the truth a little bit. I actually bought my L85 from there, already knowing that it shoots as well as a UHC Beretta :D I bought it for a replica mostly, and for a potential project gun.

if you saw someone saying it had hopup, it was probably me. I'm not sure if it does or not. I can't really tell, because in every single spring gun i've seen the insides of, the hopup is at the beginning of the barrel, as close as possible to the part where the magazine is. since the L85A1 is a bullpup rifle, the barrel goes past the pistol grip and into the stock of the gun, where the magazine is. now, in the front part of the barrel that you can actually take out without taking the gun apart almost entirely, there is no hopup. but i can't say whether it truly has hopup or not. it doesn't appear to, but it shoots as though it does. so if it doesn't have hopup, it sure as hell doesn't need it. and if it has hopup, then you just can't see it without taking it apart. either way, i'm completely satisified with the gun. and no, you don't have to use .12g bb's, .20g bb's work just fine.

Hey I own the HFC MP5 and it's a total piece of shiznat! IT SUCKS SO MUCH WANG THAT THE BBS HAVE TO TRY AND SQUIRM UP STREAM AND JAM UP THE THE STUPID MAGAZINE AND THE FRIGGIN CHAMBER WHERE THEY SHOOT OUT HAS BLANKS SOMETIMES! STUPID STUPID STUPID!

and no hop-up. piece of crap...
if anything i'd buy an auto hardballer 2 or 3. but my mind is on a AEG. i just come here for laughs or my SPAS

Sure it doesn't have hopup....but at least the BBs always curve in the same direction on mine. :) But then again...I haven't used a springer for.....well.......a very looooong time!
