View Full Version : Possibility of an Airsoft Event Near Central Ohio
Hi,
I've seen a lot of people around the forums wishing there were more events around central Ohio. Well, a friend of mine might be able to get access to around 20 acres of forested land in Marysville. The person who owns the land has already said that he'd allow our team to hold small, private games there. However, given the amount of land, we might be able to get him to allow us to host occasional events there.
I am putting this out here to get feedback/reactions on this possibility. if there is a generally positive reaction, we might pursue this possibility. Please, if you support this idea, say so in this topic. The more support we get, the greater the chance there is of this becoming a reality.
Thanks.

ok you have to keep in mind that, you need to contact the local police about the event and what is going on where along with, probably getting written permission from the land owner to use the field. you should also talk to the land owner about making some sort of wavier to eliminate him gettting sued and avoid property damage.

That would be great!
I am posting this to let you know that we are going to pursue this possibility. We are going to contact the landowner and see what he says. I will post more when I know more.
In the meantime, here is some more information:
-Moderate-heavy forest with occasional clearings. Paths run through some of it.
-Brush piles could be used for cover. We are also entertaining the possibility of making some small structures if people are willing to attend and the landowner allows us to.
Other than that, we are still dealing with some logistical problems, including:
Parking- The guy has a long driveway, but I don't think we could fit more than 10 cars in without spilling out onto the road or boxing each other in.
Toilets- There's forest, so #1 would be easy, but I doubt the guy wants us using his house for the bathroom, so if you have to do #2, you'd be taking it home with you. We might see about getting a Porta-Potty out there if people actually attend a few games there, but until then...
Fees- If this actually goes through, we'd charge a small amount for entry. Since this won't be a big, fancy field like the Hidden Spring Ranch, expect to pay somewhere between $5 and $10.
BBs- Only biodegradables unless the landowner says otherwise.
That's it for now.
I have an update/question for everyone:
We would like to know how long you would like the event to last, how long each round will last (or would you prefer MilSim, where we would play more or less nonstop?) and what types of scenarios you would like to play?
In other words, do you want an event that lasts around 7 hours, with rounds lasting around 1 hour a la OP: 1xx and 2xx? Or would you prefer shorter, more intense rounds? Please bear in mind that we will not be building anything (besides rearranging brush piles) on the site for the first event, so if you want to do MilSim, we'd be pretty short on possible scenarios.
Lastly, since we don't know how many people we can fit on the land before there are too many people, we would cap this first event at around 20 people or so.
Please post any ideas/questions/comments. My friend, who will be getting in touch with the landowner, wants to be able to tell him exactly what we want to do before he contacts him. We need your help brainstorming. We need to get the ball rolling.
(The following is my personal opinion on how I would like the game to be)
Given the restrictions on constructing anything on the land at this time, I was personally thinking of something like this:
Event would be on a Saturday
10:00A.M.-10:30A.M. = Safety briefing
10:30A.M.-12:00P.M. = Games
12:00P.M.-12:30P.M. = Lunch
12:30P.M.-2:00P.M. = Games
2:00P.M.-2:30P.M. = Afternoon break
2:30P.M.-4:00P.M. = Games
Games would consist of short (half hour or so) team deathmatch-style skirmishes interspersed with simple old scenario matches like "Kill the VIP" and "Defend the Landing Zone."

I say a mix of "OP 1xx/2xx" style games from 10:30-12:00, shorter, intense games from 12:30-2:00, and one long game at the end of the day.

shut up guzzo :)
hay if you are going to go to mission conquest with me rsvp
Okay everyone. I was told to tell you the following: "I was told by my contact that the forested land is only 15 acres and probably too small for even a small event, so we are going to put this on hold for a while. I am going hunting with him, so I will see for myself if it is in fact too small. I will also try to get some pictures."
