FAMAS or AUG

OK. I've decided that i want to buy a TM AEG.

And I need help on which one looks best, and works best

My two preferences are:
1. Civilian AUG
2. Famas SV

Or you could pick the one you think looks better-Personally, I'd get the FAMAS just to be different, but its performance wise worse than an AUG.

The Famas with the hand guard is the SV, the one with the bipod is F1.

Personally I like the Famas better. But none of us can really tell what looks good to you, only you can say what looks better. Just make a list of reasons why one looks better than the other. Up to you dude :)

you should try holding both of them and see which one is more comfortable for you. the aug can be upgraded much higher than the famas, and it looks good with a scope. another thing to think about is the fire selector, on the aug it is the trigger, which is alot easier than the famas, which i have heard is positoned behind the hand

On looks, go with the AUG. But, I think you should try the military AUG (has scope on it), it looks cooler in my opinion. Also, the FAMAS is modled after a FRENCH gun (lol, i have nothing against French people, just can't stand their government). But, politics out of the way, the FAMAS looks pretty cool, but I'd go with the AUG.

First off....cost efficency:

for most players...price tag is the biggest issue. Being that you are a 15 year old AND a noob, I would guess you dont have alot fo cash and mom and dad are considering getting one for you. In this case...I would consider the FAMAS. For the money is does offer a decent gun and an INCREDIBLE ROF in stock format.

For internals:

Go with the AUG. The AUG uses the V3 gear box which is reinforced and can upgrades no problem. The motor is screwed into the mech box which you will not have seating issues V2's have and the wires are soldered on to the post instead of pushed on.

For range/accuracy:

AUG has the 2nd longest internal barrel of all assault AEG's. (2nd to the SIG550 and tied with the M16)

Battery:

AUG can be modified to take a 9.6V battery VERY EASILY. I THINK the FAMAS can be modded as well to fit one if the pack is designed properly.

I have the AUG and have a silent head set and Phantom Kit with SIGG550 length TN barrel and the gun is EXTREMLY quiet when fired. I LOVE IT. I have the Receiver verion (with the flat rail) and I ahve a red dot scope mounted. (I like the rail that gives the ability to go red dot or standard scope) Its all based on your BUDGET and PREFERENCE. I dont truly inderstand why players post about "WHAT GUN IS BEST" because all you will get is opinions. The true opinion that counts is YOURS as you are the one that will be stuck with your purchase. Best thing to do is come to an AO game and look for someone with an AUG. Locutus has a FAMAS and I am sure, if you ask, he will let you fire it and gives you some insight to its operation and maitenance. If I am at a game and you are there, please feel free to aaproach me and you can fire my AUG off a bit and I will give you any ifo you need on it.

Its good to hear players opinions...but DONT let them be the factor in your decision. Let your budget and happiness decide for you.

the aug is much more diverse but the thing that held me back was the battery they just dont last long especially when its upgraded the famas takes a large type battery and it can be upgraded you just have to look and not mind the work. durability im not sure on but if a guy my size can fall on one and not break hey thats pretty good the aug havent got the chance to but im sure its about the same. they both are good guns yes the aug can be upgraded "more" but it just really matters what your looking for in a aeg. the famas is plastic the aug is metal and plastic.the aug has the cool take down feature while the famas is a little more difficult.the famas has the very good thaught of the spring release switch and the aug doesnt so i guess they both are about evenly matched on the whole. it really just matters what you want

AUG all the way is my OPINION (because i have the AUG and havent seen a famas :)) but its really all about what you want, im sure youll make the right choice for yourself

I have a FA-MAS... It sucks. Every time I re-insert the battery in, it's a pain in the caboose. The mag that came with it feels like it will shatter if I were to drop it. It just plain sucks! The trigger is about to fall off, and I haven't done much to cause damage around that area. I would suggest the AUG. And lets go easy on the "Noobs", We we're all at that stage at one point. Not only that I think its better if you call them newcomers. Noob isn't the nicest word in the world. Neither is newbie. Oh and to add on, I understand this question seemed like somthing a new person would say, but unless they post the same exact thread or an alike one, don't get on their case. It would make them feel more comfortable.

In contrast to what Watts says, I also own a FAMAS, and I love it. Excellent Rate of Fire, very sturdy and heavy.

Make sure you get a TM version and not the Y&P version. The easiest way to tell is the TM will have a hopup adjustment under the removable dust cover, and the Y&P will not. Also the Y&P version is only available in the F1 version.

I also like the FAMAS better, because with a simple modification to the mag-well, you can use some generic Armalite mags. Its really nice to have mags which are interchangable with someone else on your team (I mean, theres always SOMEONE on everybody's team which uses those mags). And you can wear your mittens. I know that you COULD wear you mittens with an AUG, but I bet the AUG wasnt designed with that in mind... I mean, does it ever get cold enough in Austria (Not Australia, heh... I mean, why would anybody think I mean Australia... euhh) to even need to wear your mittens?

I just like the FAMAS better for its role in MGS is what it probably comes down to... thats why Im biased for the FAMAS.

I guess it would sometimes get cold enough in Austria to wear your mittens... but not in... the SUMMER!

As far as the AUG Vs. Famas is concerned I'd say the Military AUG, love the gun. Kamikazi Runner has one and it fires like a dream. It's light enough to not be a burden, but heavy enough to feel realistic. I also love the scope. Then again, I'm going with the G3 because I prefer its look and feel.
