We are currently looking for a local place to play but heard Fran Bar wasn't really an option. Has anyone played there lately because I'm wanting to get a group together so we can play.

Playing at Fran Bar is like playing airsoft in a concentration camp. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to play:).

I've paintballed at FranBar and worked the Hootch for 2 seasons, it's not a bad place to play.
I'm only 15 min away from there and it's got a lot of hiding spots and corners to get ambushed from.

To me it the hooch was the only bad part of the field. The hyper ball field looked "clean" as far as nail and things went. I quit playing at franbar when i tripped over a dead power line...........

If you guys want I can talk to the owner, Tim, about it and see if he can get the fields cleaned up a little.

eviljoe,

Good luck...we have been asking since 2001...and we gave up trying..

Tim should know on his own that his place is a major safety hazard. After poor Kurt got a nail through his foot, he should have taken that as a sign to clean up the place on his own. i will not go back until he cleans the place up considerably, and rebuilds all the dilapidated buildings. Maybe if he did that, instead of spending all the field fees on the Hoochi, he would make more in the long run.......

Wishing to play at Franbar... Recklessly forsaking personal safety and the safety of others... Openly stating intent to shoot fellow players in the face...

I don't care if Franbar was plated in gold and giving away free hookers, I don't believe I'd play there with you. =3

i was just playin about shooting people in the face. I dont wish harm on anyone or on myself for sure. I have been there and the "speed ball" field is perfectly fine.

Then why did you say it? It's nothing to joke about. One airsoft BB can inflict thousands of dollars in dental bills. We don't joke about that.

You could warn people to use mouth guards when playing with you!
Like is it some completely random unlucky freak thing that happens to you?
Well i have once seen a bb go up a person nose, Now thats something that can give you a nick name.

But I would just take everybody elses advice on it and avoid the lock jaw
and the painful shots.

It was a complete accident but i destroyed one of my teammates front teeth. Shattered his front teeth :( . It was not a pretty sight. I was using a Mk23 and he popped around a corner about 30 yards away so i popped off a few shots and well, you do the math. He came up from behind me and i turned around and did a quick draw and i guess i shot a little bit to high . We try to honor a mercey zone but when your adrenaline is pumping, **** happens. It really opened my eyes along with every one else about safety. But the only good thing is that i got a legit call sign lol :) ( as bad as it is) Needless to say he and teammates now wear a mouth guard when we play.

That doesnt sound fun for your teammate!
But yeah a mouth guard would seam like the best choice. I think I might use one for this up coming blind furry 5.

As for fran bar, It should be perfectly safe after either one of two things
1) the owner cleans up the park and make it a more foot friendly area
2) everybody who plays there wheres 100 pound iron clad boots
and mouth guards.

Well I'm not tryin to jump anybodies case or anything but lets not "trash talk" the place. I was employed by the owner for the Haunted Hootchie for 2 seasons and he treated everybody with respect.
He's pretty much the only one running the place by himself.

Just a suggestion.....How about a bunch of us get together, offer to help clean the place up...and see if we might get discounts or something.

Spades
08-16-2008, 12:04 PM
we have already tried that, bro. Many times in fact through out the years. It seems as though he just doesn't give a crap if his field is a safety hazard, so why help him clean the place up if it's just going to get all run down again? most people have just given up on the place, because, he should be using the money he gets from the field, TO UPKEEP THE FIELD... not to improve the Hootchie or his house...

sniperlegend09

i recall in another thread it was talked about that when a fellow player called him, he told him that we would have to pay to get in to clean up. which is the direct opposite of any discount he could offer...

Yes, it looks a little bit different now though. That piece was shot in the back of the field. Theres alot more of those big tubes in the front. I dont think theres that many palates there anymore, I may be wrong but I dont remember that many.

oh and BS: i should have put #2 as #1. Straight up theres no way we would get in free, even if we were just cleaning up.

sticks

what do you mean... we would have to pay to clean?

SL: kinda sorta, we would clean for the first hour or two then we would play for the rest of the day.

If someone wants to invest in Conquest again I would go, I dont think anyones going to do it after what happened to Widowmaker though.

yeah, it's pretty sad when you would have to pay to get in to clean the place up...that, to me, is him slapping us in the face... just give up on the place already....

Well I'm pretty good at workin my "magic" :D

If it all comes down to it and I just make things happen then we have a columbus place to play!;)

I remember playing a zombie scenario at fran bar about 2 years ago in the top floor of the barn. The stairs were rotted out and It was a 15min process to go up stairs and up top I felt very unconfortable. It was so damaged and run down I was thinking it would collapse. It is a great place to play and is a great urban type scenarios, but if the owner is going to be that lazy and selfish for people trying to go help his field and him to charge them is just crazy. I love fran bar but from what I have heard, after not playing there in 2 almost 3 years, it isnt worth a nail in your foot just to play airsoft at a place.

the question i ask is, why should we help the guy out if he doesn't care?? why should we help him out if he is going to use the money he gets from us helping him out, to better the hoothie, instead of the field? as EH said, Fran Bar is dead.

hah.. if you pulled in that much of your money of your money from the hoochie, you'd probably do the same thing.

Think about it from his perspective. He has a family to take care of (or at least bills to pay). Its about $15 to get in to the haunted hoochie, or $15 to play airsoft. We bring in about 150-200 players a year there, assuming 3 big events. BUT, they bring in about 200 people an hour for the hoochie. if you've ever been, you've seen the lines of hundreds of people.

Seems like an easy choice to me. I think that faced with the same scenario, each and every one of you would do the exact same thing. Its about the almighty dollar, not personal. I just think that before calling people selfish and condemning them, we should walk a mile in their shoes.

just my .02.

I've met the man. He isn't nice, so I don't need to walk in his shoes. If I'm your customer and paying you money, you'd better be polite. Soo... F-him, F his Hoochie, F his money and F Fran Bar.

Fran Bar is dead and so is this thread.
