I'm really new to Airsoft, I just got my first two guns this week and haven't even had time to fool around with them yet.

I have always wanted to be a sniper, I took some classes on it when I was younger and went to a few camps, but I'm just not cut out for military or police service in that I could never really shoot or kill anything (I'm kind of a wuss I guess)

anyway, I was looking at getting a sniper rifle AEG, I want something that has some power and can shoot a distance, not really some gangster **** distance, but something I can have some fun with. I was looking at the PSG-1 mostly because it looks pretty rad. Twp-paintball installs upgrade parts when you order from them (which is good for me) but they only upgrade the PSG-1 to 400 fps, will it go higher? is that even high enough to be used as a real sniper rifle?


what other sniper rifles would you recomend, in any price range, the only criteria being it will be used ONLY as a sniper rifle and I want one with a more modern look, unlike bolt action wood style guns (unless those are better :) )

Any AEG can be upgraded to spooky velocities, it doesn't have to be a sniper rifle. The difference here is an AEG is going to become more prone to failure when you get into the higher end of power upgrades.

400fps is a very respectable velocity (get shot by a 400fps AEG at 20 feet and judge for yourself :) ) But if you want some bleeding edge power, you should go with one of the bolt-action rifles, which, happen to be modern sniper rifles. The M24, M40, and APS2 series rifles are either directly, or mostly based on rifles currently used in military service for sniper applications. It doesn't have to look like a laser gun to be modern :)

If you're just going to be plinking targets, and not actively skirmishing, the 400fps upgrade will be fine. However if you decide to actually start skirmishing against others, and are facing snipers with 500fps weapons then you'll obviously be out-gunned, and out-ranged.

i got shot by a 570 fps sniper gun right on top of the head.... it wasnt fun :( ...it hurt .... but i got the sniper back... i bunkered him...LOL..

i say go for it!
