The short answer is no. There are props that will be provided to players to insure that all equipment follow the missions and objectives.

Yea, I hate Zombie games. Nothing says "lame" more than a good zombie! LuLz. (j/k)

It was established pretty early on that this would be a realistic MilSim style game with a carefully thought out story line, props, and all kinds of other fun stuff for players to literally experience. I'm not sure that anyone else had attempted something as intricate as this game plans to be, however it's simplicity and complexities are going to be a blast!

This will obviously be an evening/night game, but don't let that scare you. It's going to be super fun!

Support weapons will be allowed but in limited quantities. Remember folks this is a "night" game. We a restricting full auto. Don't ask for any explanation. It is our rule for this night game period. Full auto support weapons will be limited.

Support Weapons:
One per squad
FPS limit of 350FPS
No standard rifles with drum or box mags

Riflemen:
Semi auto only
FPS limit of 400FPS
No HiCaps

Further Details will be posted as we approach the opening of registration.

Continue to post your questions. We will try to address all of them at once when we post the rules and guidelines for the OP. So please be patient. We will address as much as we can in one post soon enough.

We will have limited space on the roster and will open registration on a given date. Registration will most likely close a few weeks before OP: Bioshock. This will be a non refundable down payment with balance due days after the registration closes. Positions on certain teams will be assigned to "known players".

No. You will be required to wear the uniform of your selected role. Props and other key items will be given based on mission objectives. Certain roleplayers will be asked to wear special equipment based on their roles in the event. When teams are formed you will comply with the require uniform.

Just a suggestion, but maybe the civilians shouldnt have the same weapons as the military at the beginning...maybe they start with pistols and shotguns, and have to unlock a weapons storage area.
this is just a suggestion, but it would maybe make it a little more real, seeing as though most civilians dont all own assault rifles like that...just my .2cents

Thank you for your suggestion. I can assure you the OP will be run with realism in mind as long as it's balanced with the logistics of a game.

Well, I believe the law in many places is that civillians can legally own rifles that fire Semi-automatically. (Fully automatic requires a specific license)
Afterall, this is a night game, where we will be shooting Semi-automatically.
So, problem solved ;)

The entire game is at night so that means it's 400fps and under for the entire event.

Darkstar
07-26-2008, 02:40 PM
Not sure where you got 400fps for night games from, but AO rules specify:

Night Game/CQB Requirements:
Weapons maximum energy can not exceed 1.14J (350FPS with 0.2 grams BB)
During night games, an operable flashlight must be carried with you at all times.
It is strongly recommend to carry a Flashlight with minimum 60 lumens output.
Use of Night Vision system allowed but use at your own risk (possible phototube damages).

Refer to the Rules section at the top of the site for more.

Darkstar out.

Army: Military uniforms wll be assigned based on your squads role. Medical teams, security, science teams and more. You have the difficult task of protecting the civilians and at the same time preventing the spread of the "bio outbreak". You may have to shoot those you have sworn to protect.

Hey, EvilHead, What kind of ruling will be in place on 8mm BBs? I was thinking about picking up a Marushin m500 and thought Red Dragon would be the perfect place to field it.

Evil Head
08-01-2008, 04:32 PM
Phil, I think we are less concerned with the size of the BB than the weight. What weight of BB are you using? Since we will not be able to confirm that you are chronoing with 0.20g 8mm bb's, we'd have to assume you are using the heaviest.

If you were using:
0.34g = 307fps
0.45g = 267fps
0.60g = 231fps

Based on 0.20g at 1.49j equaling 400fps. We would have to assume you are using 0.60g unless you can prove otherwise.

Someone please check my math.

When it comes to camouflage requirements for this game, be reasonable. The standard US Woodland, MARPAT, DCU, ACU, etc. Im not saying that this is what they will be but somewheres along that line. Some off beat non mainstream camo may not be suitable for this game.

And remember, this is a night game. Which means that it will be difficult to identify what scheme you may choose to wear

*If you only used a pistol, would you have to have a glow stick on that? Blowbacks couldnt have one attatched and still function.
*also, can we use claymores (springloaded)?

-GUNS

Evil Head
08-20-2008, 04:12 PM
Pistols will not have glow sticks attached. Pistol owners will have the option of moving undetected:) The glowsticks are small and could be taped to the slide of a pistol. It just couldn't be wrapped around all the way. Biggest issue with glow sticks on pistols is that it can be torn off by the holster. Trust us, we are not going to do anything to hinder the use of your gun. I think by now we know what we are doing.;)

Spring loaded claymores will be allowed, but due to the nature of the event I see no reason why one would be used. You decide once the WARNORD is issued.

Cutthroat, If you have signed a waiver for 2008 at Red Dragon, you do not need to sign another.

Thank you, I will watch for them. I will be out of town until Monday so please don't panic if the roster does udate until next week.

I can barely spell panic, let alone do it! No rush, though. I still have some other team members that are on the fence about playing a night game. But there will be at least 3 of us, if not 5 or 6.

The soonest I'll know is the weekend of the 10th. I'd like to go for sure, this sounds like its going to be insanely fun, but I'm not sure what my schedule for work is. I'll try to get my boss to schedule me Friday night and Saturday morning, but you never know...

To everyone else, BIOSHOCK is going to kick butt!! And for those of you who definitely want to go, you'd better sign up now! Space is limited and once they're filled, you won't be allowed in. There will be no walk-ons allowed. So get your buns in gear and get to signing up!!

My whole team is very excited about this event. One of my team members even invited his girlfriend, who (surprisingly) accepted and will be joining us. I doubt shes ever even held an airsoft gun, let alone played a game. Everyone should come to this, pro or Joe. We know a lot of planning is going into this, and think anyone that is missing out is either stupid or lazy. Airsoft is about having fun, and I cant think of any other way to have fun playing airsoft, than by attending a milsim scenario game created by pros that love the sport.

Viewer Discretion is Advised

The video posted above is part of the story line for Operation Bioshock. What you are about to see is not real. It is a setup to a scenario style mission for a "Military Simulation" event. Nobody was injured while filming this segment. All weapons were rendered inert during filming. Contains strong language.

I do not have a FRS Radio. Where can I purchase an inexpensive one? I'm really interested in playing in this game as it is one of the few with a young enough age limit. Is it essentially a Walky-Talky because we have a few of those.

Calling all Civillians!

We need civilians, and understand, you will have a combat role. Civilians will be a fighting force with squads and a command structure. It is just labelled different than you are use to. Every team will have missions handed down by their respective commanders. Some will require you to move deap into enemy territory under the cover of darkness. Others will have you fighting in the light.

Civilians will be permitted to wear their tac vests and carry what ever AEG, pistol, or shotgun they choose.

To answer your question, you can purchase a FRS radio at AirsoftArms, Walmart, Radioshack, etc, etc. They are going to run about the same price anywhere. I would suggest just biting the bullet and buying a good one. You must have one that can operate on the emergency channels so we can reach you and you can reach us. I have two extra, but there is no guarantee I'll have them with me by game time.

Allow me to read the thread for you.

Since this is MILSIM, and some of us use suppressors, do we get to downsize our glowsticks on our rifles because a suppressor would, in real life, decrease the flash from the muzzle? :p Just a thought.

 Answer, no... sorry. Trust me, they are small and most cases only be seen from the front. We have to cheat MILSIM for the sake of operations.

Evil Head

If we have a suppressor on our AEG, do we still have to use a chem light on our barrel?

Yes, it is there for safety. Understand it is not as bright as you would think.

ya, i have a silencer on my sr, do i need to show the light after i shoot??

You do not show a light. It is a 1.5 inch glow stick with only about a quarter inch showing taped to your barrel. It produces very little light.

Don't get bent out of shape and try to over think the glow stick on the barrels. When you see how much actual light they produce, you wonder why you ever were concerned about it.

Well, it's crunch time and here is where we stand. We have roughly 30 players registered and paid. Above, 40 have responded yes and 30 have responded maybe making a total of 70 potential players. We will not be able to operate this event with less than 60 players. As it stands, we need to hear from you whether or not we should hold this event. I'm not trying to make any sort of point, we just need to make a reasonable decision about the future of Bioshock based on your response.

One of three things will happen next:
1. The roster fills up in the next 24 hours game proceeds as planned.
2. We extend the payment deadline based on further interest.

We will let everyone know the stitation ASAP.

Well, for all of you who have been complaining, it is time to put your money where your mouth is.

If this event has to be canceled due to lack of interest, the next person that *****es about the lack of milsim events gets banned.

LoL, if this hasn't been made painfully clear by now, once again, the event has not been cancelled and at the present time we are not planning to cancel it. If we fail to achieve the full roster, we will simply scale back the event for the smaller group.

As of right now, players who plan to attend who have NOT registered must do so by midnight tonight. Registration and payment details are immediately available HERE: http://www.spearairsoft.com/registration_and_payments.htm

IF you do not have PayPal or do not want to mail your payment, you can still bring your registration and payment to Airsoft Arms in Milford, OH and we will get you registered there.

IF YOU CANNOT PAY at this time, please send Evil Head a private message IMMEDIATELY stating your intentions to come to the event. We will be happy to hold your place as long as possible, however late payment penalties may apply. Also, if player demand exceeds the current roster and you have not paid and someone else pays first, you WILL lose your slot.

Once the official registration period has closed, players may send a registration request to Evil Head, however you will be accessed a late registration penalty and your registration fee may be significantly higher.

Right now, registration is still $30 dollars. IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED, DO IT NOW!!! Let us know if you have ANY questions by contacting Evil Head, Darkstar (me) or by posting your questions here in the forum so that we can address them asap!

Thanks to everyone else who has registered and paid. You will definitely be in for a treat!!!

Again as a reminder, if you are registered as yes, get your payments and information in. If you are maybe, register and pay or mark yourself as no. Do not wait until last minute. We are prepared to close the roster and you will not be able to get in on this game, so make up your mind now. If you are coming and want to pay at the gate for $40, you still need to pre-register. If you show up and you have not registered, you will not be permitted on the field.

Bioshock Forum is open on our wesite and other members have begun the discussion. Don't show up unprepared. Important information in regards to the operation of the event are being posted in the forum. We will not answer operational questions here. Only questions about registration will be answered here from now on. If you any questions about that game itself, you must be registered and logged into your team discussion on our website. Some information is private and only your team can read your instructions for this event.

Last resort! If you still want in contact me ASAP! This offer may only last for a few more days. Registration is now $35 if you Paypal or mail your payment. If you choose to pay at the gate it is $40. You must still follow registration instrutions listed above. You still register even if you are paying at the gate. You must do this with enough time to log into our forums and get up to speed on the event rules and missions.

Do not, I repeat, do not show up without registering. You will be turned away. No walk-ons. Period!

For those who have asked to get in after registration closed, we will be getting back to all of you ASAP.

LoL, Phil. When I first saw those pictures, I (like you) thought that Son of Liberty had let go yet another one of his infamous "Demon Farts". Luckily that wasn't the case, and instead what you're seeing is the biohazard dump that different teams will need to infiltrate during the course of the night game. (It is specially lighted for the night game, and even though the pictures look cool, they don't do it justice!).

Darkstar out.

Final Warning!

If you have not signed up on our forums you may be lost. That's right, there are rules about this event, you might want to read up on. If we find you in violation of any of the rules, you will be asked to leave without warning.

MILSIM
A chain of command is being used on all teams. If you feel that you are just going to show up and do as you wish, wrong! You violate the spirit of the game and you will be asked to leave.

Story
You are part of a story and you will learn more about it as you participate in it. If you choose to stray, you will not know what's going on and really not have a good time.

Missions
There are a ton of missions. Enough that you may not complete all of them. We expect that and have designed the game to keep you interested and busy. Be informed so that you can see and interact with as many of the props we have created for this event.

Fun
We expect you to have fun. That is all we ask. Come out and have a good time. Remember, interacting with the story is going to make this an enjoyable event, so sign up on our forums and ask questions and read up.

See you Saturday

Evil Head

The Bioshock Patches showed up today, thank god. They look awesome! If you have registered and paid or pre-registered and paying at the gate you will get a patch. They have velcro backing and will make a great addition to your patch panels. We should have a few extra to sell if you are interested. Please ask at registration if there are any left.

See you Saturday... be sure to be there between 4pm and 5pm.

Registration is closed. Sorry to those who are trying to get in. You had plenty of time and as of last Friday we started to build squads. At this point we are not making any changes. Register early next time.
