Uhh, I'm rather new, I only have a KJ Works M9 Tactical Edition (plastic) and I was just wondering if you guys know what kind of vest to get to match a woodland camo + boonie hat style outfit. Preferably a cheaper vest, as the Blackhawks are pretty darn expensive (may wanna get one later when I start playing more CQBish), hopefully below $100. I like protection vests the best, like the SAS Level x ones or the ranger ones, but I dunno, I don't care whether it's that, LBVs, modular whatevers, etc. Thanks in advance. :D

Well, if you only have a pistol, getting a vest would be a little pointless at the moment. However, if you plan of getting an AEG in the future and need something to hold mags, you may want to take a look at a LBV such as this one -

As for those replica body armor vests, unless your going for a strictly cosmetic look, they arn't worth the money. Some can attach modular pouches and such, but after all that, you end up shelling out quite a bit of money (based on your statement that BHI vests are over your price range).
There are many cheapo vests out there that work fine. There are also many Blackhawk knock-offs that run about $70 that you could look at. Just give a good search around. :)

My brother is selling brand new Blackhawk Omega vests for under 100 dollars, he might have some left, email him at stargate6@chartner.net .

eheh, thanks for the replies..
Yeah, I don't really need the vest for holding stuff, I'm just going for 'the look'. Now that you said cheap knockoffs for $70, I think I'll buy the cheap one on wolverinetactical (too lazy for link)

most mil stores I've seen in my area (sorry guys, new england) sell the standard Rothco ranger assault vest for like 20 bucks plus it's available in most camo- urban woodland, black, desert. they aren't that great for bearing aload, but they have the pouch in back for a hydrator, two hand pockets, two zipper pockets on top of the hands, two rows for shotgun shells (largely useless in airsoft I know) two breat pockets, one with two layers, and two internal m,ap pockets. plenty of space for storing small things like pistol mags, gloves when fixing stuff, tools, smaller cans of gas, compass/map, cloth for goggles, snacks, and bags of ammo etc.

You didn't say anything about needing a holster on your vest so I'll post this. I just picked up one of these and am so far pretty impressed. I haven't used it in the field yet, but I am going out this weekend to try it, I'll post more later. Anyway, my vest cost $40 and comes in tri-color desert, flectarn, and woodland camo. Additionally this vest also comes in black and O.D.

I got my vest from The Sportsman's Guide.

I'm not sure if they are the same vest, but these are showing up all over the net, including eBay. For eBay, search under: "Multipocket LBE vest", "M83 vest", "rhodesian vest", or "south african vest". eBay prices range from $12 - $70. The $70 ones are actual South African Surplus. The cheaper ones are just knock offs. Like I said above, mine cost $40 and is a knock off, but it seems to be a solid vest. It may no be the best vest on the market, but for $40 I think it is worth the price.

For a vest, give this a very thorough read.
