I am wondering if there are any airsofters who would be interested in forming a roleplayers troupe. It would be for players who are not on a team and are interested in varying roles during events. The group would work closely with organizers.

I would also be interested in hearing from organizers if this would be a service that they would use.

I am currently looking for a team, even though I won't be able to do anything until Summer at least, the reason for this being that I don't live in Ohio yet. I'll be moving come end of my freshman year in high school. I have to say that roleplaying has fascinated me for some time. Although I have never tried it while playing airsoft, I have roleplayed on numerous occasions online (chat rooms and the like.) So, as long as you'd be willing to let a 15 year old play on this team, and possibly give me the 411 on airsoft roleplaying, I am interested.

I think it would be a great idea, but what kind of dedication would it require? I would love to see more EXPERIENCED role players that are more in for the goofing off and not swaying one way or another for one team to win. I would like to hear more about your idea very much.

I had in mind a group that would keep the flow of the operation going by working along with the organizer(s). The group would also serve as an opfor in order to free up the team hosting the game so they could worry about other issues. That way the RP group would have ample opportunites for fighting (they would show up at various points in the game to harrass, defend, etc.) but would also serve in roles necessary to keep the game on track. The RP group would even battle against each other as they provided support to opposing forces on the field. The role of the RP group is completely under the supervision of the organizer.

"The group would also serve as an opfor in order to free up the team hosting the game so they could worry about other issues."

Depending on how you planned on setting it up, however, as part of the "event staff" role playing or not, please keep in mind that what these roleplayers do can go against a team's/hosts' reputation and for this reason teams/hosts may be reluctant to just pick persons they do not know over individuals that they do know (close friends, wives, husbands, siblings, children...ect ect)

The 08th has a squad within the team soley dedicated to going to events to RP when the whole team itself isn't attending the event. The most recent we have attended was Al Najaf. It's a fun element to have if done properly. As Mav said, just be careful not to step on anyone's toes so to speak.

You are absolutely correct about reputations being on the line, Mavrick. I proposed it merely as an idea to assist organizers and give something new to players who may be interested and who are not part of an organized team. It would also allow these same players to be involved in the mechanics of the operation itself. The RP would take pride in their part of a well ran operation, not in victory at the end of the day. I think that there are many players who would love to prove themselves at something like this if given the chance. It is really up to organizers, though.

perhaps maybe get a list and go through tryouts and a "getting to know you" time with the proposed RP guys...that way you can vouch for them...ect ect

I would like to hear from some organizers first as to whether they'd use it or not. If it did turn out to be a go, I have no problem traveling around southern Ohio to meet with them and work out details if they are serious. The players I have met so far at our home games alone are mature enough to stick to a script. It really isn't about combat ability so much as the ability to follow the organizers plans.
