I was wondering if the replica scopes are worth the money or should I spend the extra $$$ and get the real deal?
I want a Aimpoint Comp ML XD or the replica of this scope.
I am wondering about accuracy,eye relief,realism,durability.
any help will be greatly appreciated:D
Dragon, been trying to e-mail you.. did you get it?
Scopes, you get what you pay for, BUT, if you are not into optics, or do not use scopes much you may not care.
The replica scopes do not have as bright or clear an image as a good scope (not just a real one , but a good real one). But, personally, I have kinda high standards on these. Next time you are at the gun store look thru a cheap scope, then try the most expensive one as the very next one. Ask to take it outside, look at something down the street, not thru a window. Notice the bricks on a bldg and the detail in the mortar. Find some real straight lines that are close together like window dividers and see how they stay straight across the whole field of view. If at dusk you will notice a big difference in birghtness too. Now next time you are around a replica scope (try the under $50 ones, you will see a huge difference.
Price of course will also depend on apeture as well as mag, good coatings etc. I have seen the fake coatings on replicas cut light transmission instead of enhance it. At dusk they are useless. A good scope will give you better vision at dusk.
On the other side of things, even a replica will look cool and we can go back into that phase that all these discussions here sooner or later, gotta look good too. And you may be dragging this one thru the sand more than your hunting scope. Then again, a good scope won't fog in the rain either.
Gotta look good no matter what tho.
