Seeing as how the cold weather is upon us already i got to wondering, since gas pistols get to the point of utter uselessness this time of the year(unless you carry a bunch of hand warmers taped to your pistol.) I wanted to know what sidearm if any do you use during the cold months?

You could always try an AEP. They dont have the fps of a gas pistol, but if you need a sidearm, the person is usually close enough to where it is point-and-shoot. CYMA makes a cheap G18.
airsoftgi.com and I believe airsoft arms carries them.

In the past I used various spring pistols when I played in the winter. I found, back then when i used high caps, that I didn't use a side arm often enough to need anything else.

I did however recently buy 2 AEPs (one a DE usp and the other a CYMA glock) for this winter.

I use an AEP TM Glock, and it works good. It has decent range.

I used my G18c AEP at Black Aurora 2 (40s and wet) and the battery seemed to not perform as well as it had in warm weather. Is it possible that such a small battery (200mah)would be affected by temperature?

Last month, I added a battery cord lanyard to my G18c and I love it. I now power my pistol with a 9.6v 2200mah battery, and it performs so much better than it did with the stock battery. Of course, I can't just toss the weapon to a needy teammate now, so there's a tradeoff.

I had also bought a TM Glock 18C AEP a couple of years back, thinking it would be great to use all year long. I've found the tiny battery it uses poops out in the colder parts of winter. They're okay but not the fix-all do-all solution I had hoped for.
