Will the classic army Harris style bipod fit nicely on the Sun Project M40A1? Thx.

Well the CA BiPods I have heard are more or less crap (cheap knock offs remember you get what you pay for), but Harris BiPods are top of the line. They require a sling swivel stud for mounting, however I am not sure if the SP M40A1 comes with those studs, but if it does either one will work. Hope it helps.

the m40 does not come with the studs. well, at least my m40a1 xb didnt. anyways. why buy a $70 bipod when you can make one out of sticks?

And yet another noob comment.

Anywho,

You can get some Remington 700 studs at your local gun shop. Just make sure if your under 18 that an adult takes you in. I don't know the prices of them because my 700 LSS came with the swivels (:)).

Also you must find a harris bipod that fits the Remington 700 rifle. The M40A1 is just the sniper version of it. I forget what all they do to it but other than that its the same rifle. Same bolt, same reciever, different barrel and stock.

I hope this helps you in your quest for a bipod.

Actully... theres a special one (That you can get for most guns) its a harris bipod that replaces the normal sling stud, and replaces it with a bipod and a new sling stud. Im going to get this eventually for my M40a1.

umm....would you like to tell me how that was a "noob" comment? saving money is no "noob" thing to do. mayb your the "noob" because you dont know how to save money and use whats around you. if you are a sniper, ghillie and all...using a black bipod, just plain sticks out. u can try to camoflauge it, but it'll still stick out more then 3 sticks. just my thoughts.

Hmm, black Bi-pod sticking out in a woodland setting. Somehow I think if someone sees a black bi-pod sticking out, I think you should have already taken the shot. I'm not letting anyone get close enough to see my bi-pod, as I'm laying on the ground, concealed, alone or with a spotter. He spots your bi-pod, I'd congradulate him. Heck, I haven't taken the orange off my barrel of my rifle and people don't spot that, what makes you think they are going to spot a BLACK bi-pod?

If you want to use sticks, go ahead. No problems here, to each his own. I don't want to mess around trying to find some sticks as I'm setting up. I want to rapidly deploy and do what i have to do. I shoot from a distance, so if someone wants to return fire, I'm usually out of range. Them spotting a black bi-pod in the woods isn't of any concern to me. Point I'm trying to make is, using sticks isn't really effective from my point of view. I use my rifle enough to know what is needed and what you can do without.

As for the Ghille comment, you don't need a ghille to be a sniper/sharpshooter. That is rediculous. That's like saying you need a M-60 to be an airsofter. Are you one if you've got it? Yep. Are you one if you don't? Yep, you still can be. I never wear a Ghille. I move too much to actually blend in with a ghille all the time, terrain would clash most of the time.

Oh, what type of sniper rifle do you have? I looked, but all's I saw was an M4 and a M9 Beretta. Wondered what hardware you had.

my sniper rifle is still in the process of being built. the base is a m40a1 xb. it not being finished, is why it isnt posted. anyways...its a bipod, who cares...i never said one needed a ghillie, it was just one of the examples i used. (or did i). anyways, i guess it would just be preferance and the financial situation of a person to decide wheater or not to buy a bipod or not. so whatever floats your boat.

oh yea, i just realized, my stick thingamajig is not a bipod, its a tripod...stupid me.

Harris makes a bipod for the m700 (civ version of the m40a1) that mounts onto the sling stud, It will fit the m40a1.
