Well,
After several years doing repairs, almost two years of actual Tech Support experience, and some positive encouragement from our company's new Network Administrator, I have begun studying for my A+ Certification, to be followed up with MCSE, CCNE, etc. etc.

It's amazing how cheaply you can find some really decent documentation on the testing materials for many of these tests and how great of a resource Amazon.com was in helping me find the books and study guides I needed.

I must say, the practice tests for the A+ have been a breeze. I learned most of my "skills" on the job, so its interesting to see them presented in a "classroom" type format.

Yes, Sidd, the "You would" rings true.. :D

Anyone else been through these tests or interested in them?

Does this mean I can't use the "I don't know, I'm not a very good Tech" excuse when customers piss me off with stupid questions?

Hey let me know how that goes. I have been reading A+ for Dummies off and on for awile and it has a test on DVD. Due to being busy, I have put that on the back burner for a little while. Any help or info would be appriciated. Oh, I heard the CCNE is a great one to get but very hard.

I took the A+ certification in 92, it wasn't too tough, though I am sure it has changed a little since then. ;)

I thought the Windows 95 MCP test was going to be a *****, but I ended up scoring the highest in my company. I guess I studied extra hard since I thought it was going to be so bad (from all the reports I heard)... but I don't think you will have to take that test either..

CCNA is easy, but then again, I am sure it has changed.

Hope my outdated experiences were helpful.

i'm in the process of doing my MCSE. Just make sure you choose the right tests. A few are mandatory, a few are electives. The reason i say that is because i took one course because i thought it would be more beneficial, but then realized after taking the test that infact i should have chosen anotherone. The cool thing about the MCSE, one of the tests is a gimme. There is a windows XP pro test that is just plain easy.
