That isnt a normal M-16. That has a retractable stock. The normal ones i have seen have a solid stock. Iv been lookin online and i have yet to find one of those, or the name of it, but that picture is obviously cut and cropped to have that stock on there. It is way to big for the gun hehe. Im sure someone has made a custom real steel version of that, but to my knowledge it isnt and was never in production. I could be wrong..

okay, i didn't think so. and yeah, i know somebody cut and pasted, it was me. cuz i have the "body" and stock of an hfc XM whose piston is broken and an m-16 barrel. i took the xm barrel and put it on my m-16, and i took out all the internals of the xm to find out what was wrong with it, so i kept them out and put the xm "body"/stock with the m-16 barrel. i was just wondering what the hell to call it and if a real one existed. i would have posted my own picture, but my mom's gone and has the digital camera right now.

Well, you know uhc is making a colt ar-15 that looks sorta like that. they (uhc) say it will look like this: http://www.colt.com/law/ar15a2.asp Just the mag and foregrip look different to me.

Actually it's a Police Tactical (LE) M16A2.....I may be wrong....but I think that's what it is. Law Enforcement only type stock.
Airsoft versions are available at DEN for both the M16A2 and the M4.

But since I'm not 100% sure about it I'd like to know more myself. :p

You are correct Secretagentman it is an M16A2 w/an LE stock.
The also made Ar-15s,Car-15s,ETC with this configuration and marketed towards LE agencies by stating the this was a "custom" stock for LE only.
It offer 3 positions and sling points.
Total BS as anyone can purchase this stock.(the real trick nowadays is getting the gun!):D

I have been contemplating this for awhile now and still dont really know how to respond....A few of us already stated what it is and that it is a real gun, but if you need more evidence here are a few you can look up.
DPMS carbine panther
Bushmaster XM15 E2S 16" Bbl. "Shorty" Carbine / A2 Model
Colt Model LE6920
The Colt Commando
Diemaco C8FTHB 5.56 Carbine
these are all M16A2 clones and come with a M4 type LE stock.

Hell, I was going to shorten my outer and inner barrell to achieve the "dissipator" forward look, and add a much cooler flash hider. I was also gonna get an ABS SR-16 receiver to allow for better color and option of a removeable carry handle.
But now I've seen the picture of that AE thing, I think I'm gonna grab up a retractable stock as well, I'm just worrying about battery storage. But the handguard is so large on an A2...oh well, this is an entry for the AEG forums.

yeah, those all have the retractable stock and most have a long barrel, but notice how the one i posted also has a long foregrip. I think that's what he means when he says they don't make one of those. It would make sense to me that they didn't anyway. the whole point of the retractable stock is for the gun to be more compact. if you put on a long barrel and foregrip, that just defeats the purpose of the retractable stock, unless you wanna be able to take long range shots from small spaces, but that would still have trouble fitting in. that dissipator thing is the closest one.

Magus,
I did not notice the longer barrel on yours and I am researching a little more to find if any variants were made in this configuration.
However the companies I mentioned are the most prolific of the M16/AR15 clone manufactures and customizers.:)

is it me or would LE not be better served by such a huge barrel but a short stock? I mean CQB stock but THAT barrel would be conflicting, the officers would likely flag themselves at every door and corner- PLUS the added barrrel length would rapidly accellerate the 5.56mm NATO round to military specs- and overpenetration would become a serious issue.
however as an airsoft project it would make you stand out differently than all the other colt carriers, plus some people have a hard time shouldering and acheiving a cheek weld on the monstrous m-16, so shortening the stock without shortening the barrel would in theory allow a smaller person to enjoy the mil-speeds and penetration of the 5.56 nato round while still actually being able to hit something with it. (I mean in real steel of course)
