Subject: RE: NT2

I just ordered the NT2 from your site. I also noticed on the top in the info pane of my browser the "Iasus Concepts NT2" title.
So I also checked it out on their site Here http://www.iasus-concepts.com/nt/nt-2.htm

Your site advertises the NT2 has quote "Real dual transponders to pick up voice vibration from the throat area."
But according to Iasus specs the NT2 has 1 Transponder as stated under the Specifications section of the above link.

Now, unless this is a Specially built or modified line of NT2's then this could be considered false advertisement.

And I expect to be receiving a real dual transponder throat mic. To which according to Iasus the only Real Dual Transponder line they have is the NT GP/GPX.

Below is a copy of my order info. And the #'s I can be reached at

The title tag of this page http://www.clearercom.com/NT2.htm
is designed for internet search engine optimization. The information in this line can pertains to key words used to
draw search engine traffic. We do not state on the main information page
anything regarding the IASUS headset. Iasus uses our name NT2 and has an inferior headset that
uses a fake transponder. Our NT2 integrates True Dual transponders. However I am not amused by
your accusation of "False Advertising" and therefore have refunded your order in full. Do not expect
shipment of this order.

Now I did not actually "accuse" him of "false Advertising"

I said it "could be considered"
If I was accusing him He would have received a letter from an attorney and not from me. It was more of a FYI.

Yes, I used to own the NT2 Model but replaced it with the Sniper B style, the 2 Black "Circles," are transponders. I was pleased with my NT2, I think you would be too.

I've ordered from them. Back in 2004 I ordered a throat mic neckband from them, intending to use it with the el cheap throat mic I already owned. I paid the extra $10 for S&H with a tracking number, because I'm anal about that sort of thing. They sent the neckband US Mail with $1.60 in postage, no tracking number. I complained and they responded by offering me 10% off my next purchase.

I decided 10% off was a good deal, so I ordered a "Sniper" throat mic. It didn't work well at all and in retrospect it was wasted money. I have a size 17 neck, which was just too large for the metal band of the Sniper, and I could never get much sound out of it. I don't know if it would have been fine for someone skinnier.

Based on having bought throat mics from Pryme, Iasus, and Clearercomm, I can tell you that unless you have at least $200 to spend and time to tinker, the throat mics sold for airsoft use will not satisfy you.

Boom mics may not look as sexy but you can get a Pryme boom for something like $70 that will work great. I'm sure there are other good vendors out there as well.

Here is a reply from Iasus Concepts

Dear Mr. Wagner,

Thank you for your interest in our products. Unfortunately we do have more than a few "companies" trying to take advantage of our brand and reputation. There are a number of authorized resellers who can help you find the right product for your application, including Headset Gadgets, ( www.headsetgadgets.com ). We are actually in the process of launching our newest headset, the NT3, which will be available by the end of the month. If you are interested, I can have them contact you regarding the prelaunch special.

Kindest Regards,

As many of you already know Iasus concepts is releasing their new line of NT3's. It is actually considered a Professional version and not a recreational. Any how after my dealings with this thread I have been dealing with Iasus directly. They have added me to the prelaunch special list and have offered me a discount on the NT3. Price is TBA but will most likely be around $45 - $50. If any of you would like to get a deal on these let me know and I should have a price from Iasus by the 21st of this month. I am in no way making any money off this I am doing this only to give my fellow airsofters a deal too and I don't know if they will put a cap on how many I can order or not.
Here are the specs

Brand new GEN3.0 transponder improves acoustic transmissions with a significant improvement in reducing the “muffle effect”
All new flexistrap (adjustable flexible neckstrap, fits 14"-17" neck sizes)
All new magnetic clasp for added comfort and versatility
All new rugged braided wiring for increased durability and to reduce tangled wires
Acoustic coil earphone for discrete and comfortable applications
IASUS Concepts technology eliminates background and wind noise
Water resistant construction
VOX capability – If your radio has VOX capability, you can use the throat mic hands-free to allow your full attention while working
Application connectors for two-way radios, computers, xbox360 are sold separately

That cheap? Wow, I might have to hit you on on that when you get the final price.

I pre-ordered one over the phone with them and it cost me $44.99 for the NT3 and $4.99 for the adaptor kit to use it with the 1 pin radio's and so forth. So he said it should stay about the same price for the special.

I don't know why you are saying this...I spent almost $100 on a firefox mic and I think it worked twice before taking an eternal dirt nap. I just spent $35 on one that Siacono was talking about and it works great. Looks better, sounds better (on both ends), and is a far better build quality than most.

Iasus Concepts makes the NT line of throat mics. Clearer Com used to be the Iasus US/Canada distributor, until one day Iasus terminated the agreement (for reasons not made public, but it seemed like a nasty breakup). Since that time, Clearer Com came out with their own line of throat mics, the Stryker Lite and Stryker Pro and a few others.

Clearer Com does appear to be using some shady marketing practices....

Thanks for the info Locutus. I will never be dealing with Clearer Com again as you my already assume.

I said it because I tried Pryme, Foxfire, and Iasus, and they all worked poorly, broke quickly, or both. If you found a cheaper mic and liked it, I'm happy for you, but not everyone has had such success.

Sorry to necropost (if an almost month-old post counts as such) but I was searching for a thread on radios, and by extension, mike set ups.

I gather the NT2 (and presumably, the NT3) are decent mikes.....what radios do you all use these with? Those Motorola Talkabouts? Or are these for slightly more exotic radios?

Thanks!

if it's a single pin set up that will work on most frs radios you buy from wal-mart,radio shack and so forth. The 2 pin set ups are for the more exspensive radios.
