So if you have a Mk23 or know someone who does, you know you have to shell out for a holster- you could get the $11 special that holds "large frame guns like the DE or Mk23" but you know, you paid alot for the gun you don't want it falling out onto rocks and snakes. :)

but maybe you don't want to shell out for a BHI (black-hawk industries) holster to the tune of 70 bucks. well, it seems these need a little TLC, but it may be worth looking into

I just got a new Mil Force large frame LAM holster for $25 on ebay. Quality is about the same as the SAS one I have for my M9. It is open on the bottom so the suppressor might be able to poke right out without having to take it on and off. My concern is that the opening is only about an inch by 2.5 inches. Is that enough room for the MK23 SOCOM with LAM?

no
assuming you mean 2.5 inches "tall" (when worn, the side paralell to the thigh) and 1 inch wide the holster will be insufficient.

one, i can't see it obviously, but it is possible the holster will be even "smaller" in terms of openings as it contracts due to wrapping around the leg.

for future reference, the TM mk 23 SOCOM pistol is (across the top) 1.1 inches wide, and 4 and 5/8ths tall from the bottom of the LAM to the top sight. It measures 2.0 inches from bottom of tac rail to front sight with LAM removed.

thanks for the measurement. It won't fit. Good buy for $25, but for a different gun.

Greg at hardcoreairsoft.com showed me (instore) a hard backed, hard shelled mk23 SOCOM thigh holster he had acquired. i didn't have my socom on me at the time BUT I'm going back monday so I'll be able to let you know then who makes it and how much. It looked very promising.
