First off, let me begin by saying that these are general occurrences, and are not in reference to any particular person or incident. If you believe that you might be a noob, and are easily offended, go away, and don't read this.

With that said, I give you the top 10 signs you might be a noob.

10. You post a thread asking about peoples opinions of a gun, then get pissed off that they think you're a noob, then you proceed to insult them due to that fact.

9. You ask the question "What is the best AEG for under $50(or $100)".

8. You scoff at people and call them "elitist" for buying real tactical gear and good guns, then wonder why your "affordable" gear falls apart.

7. You show up to airsoft games and try to grab others' gear or guns without asking them.

6. You call magazines "clips".

5. You ask how you can upgrade your Cyma/Cybergun AEG, then get angry when told that it can't be done.

4. You send off applications and requests to join every airsoft team in your area without ever having played.

3. You think Classic Army is the most original company to ever make AEGs.

2. You think Tokyo Marui is pronounced "To-kee-oh Mao-ri".

-and now, for the number one sign that you might be a noob......

1. You think Cybergun makes the best airsoft products available.

Feel free to add to the list, or just make comments. We are noob friendly here, and like I said, this is just a list for fun, so if you are offended by this, feel free to send me nastygrams via PM.

:D The number 1 sign you might be a noob should be, "After reading and replying to this thread, you were admitted to the hospital for blunt, cranial Ban Hammer trauma"

Miyagi

My additions:

"Your boots and Bdu's are worth more than your gun"
"You carry 2 springer pistols JUST IN CASE"
"You have a tac light on your pistol during a daytime event because it looks cool"
"You wear a woodland top with flecktarn pants"
The big one......." you wear a medic armband to identify yourself as a medic at a event":D

AHAHAAHAH good job Loki you definetly have nailed down the simptomes of nobbieness. That Classic Army joke is hilarious! Also, almost every single video on YOUTUBE.COM has a noob saying "To-kee-oh Mao-ri". Your really really really hit the nail on the head with this thread!

Or how about:

You show up to a game with nothing but a springer.

Yeah. My brother and I did that last time.

here are a few i came up with....

You wear bright white nikes to events
You wear hunting camo to events
You think that there is no difference between .12s and .20s
You go to airsoft arms and ask 50 billion questions which are totally useless and you ask to hold every gun, then ask questions about it.

10. You fix your own gun or by another one
9. You buy more gear than you can use at one time
8. You think twice before posting in a thread
7. Noobs orbit you at every event
6. People are always asking you "where did you get that?"
5. You get mad when you are "hit"
4. You dogpile onto everyone elses negative feedback torward a noob
3. Publicly, you turn you nose up at "chinese clones" but have three of them at home
2. You feel compelled to start a top 10 list
1. You no longer worship Loki

brandon
03-15-2007, 02:11 PM
Not too shabby of a list. "2.)You feel compelled to start a top 10 list" Is that when you realized that you were no longer a noob? Just kidding, anyways great list!

Number 1 sign your a noob (And if my forum members find out I said this I'm toast)

1.) People even call you a noob at AirsoftForum.com!

Actually we don't allow people to call people noobs at ASF.... our swear filter actually changes the word noob to "newbie". But It is still funny. :)

6. You call magazines "clips".

I make this mistake sometimes when talking to people (Frostbite Week 1.....Phil), but I do know the difference if that helps my case at all? ;)

You go to airsoft arms and ask 50 billion questions which are totally useless and you ask to hold every gun, then ask questions about it.

I do this, but I think if I am about to drop several hundred on a gun, that I am fully entitled to know and feel what I am buying.

You wear hunting camo to events

I go for the "guerrilla" look (a constant work in progress), and hunting camo looks perfect. Call me a noob (not the end of the world) but if it works it works, and I'm sure not every guerrilla in the world is running around in tiger stripe.

[ RANT ]
Incorrect, some of us can speak Japanese. Mah-lroo-e -- its hard to translate, phonetically, ru or る,to English. I don't bother to pronounce it correctly because when speaking in English I speak MUCH faster than in Japanese and its just easier to say it like every American miss pronounces it, than to change my phonetic tone and speed just for one maybe two words. Plus people recognize
the miss pronunciation. [ /RANT ]

Nice lists though guys very clever.

Like Evil Head, here is a list of the top ten reasons why you are no longer a noob but you have an addiction.

10. (Original thought comes from GreaseMan) You take $5000 extra in collage loans to pay for airsoft

9. Spend more time cleaning your guns than your self.

8. Spent more money on your PTW than your car.

7. Spent more money on accessories for your PTW, then you did on your PTW.

6. Starve your self to pay for BB's.

5. You gave up a quarter of school to pay for John Lu events.

4. Spend many hours on the computer looking at guns that you can never afford (unless you live in a box and eat ramen noodles).

3. You design a new style gearbox.

2. Decide to join the Navy to pay for airsoft (and collage too).

and finally number one...

1. You spend time from your measly existence posting information that almost no sizable portion of the human population will ever read or understand, on an internet forum!

browning
03-15-2007, 03:29 PM
here are a few i came up with....
You think that there is no difference between .12s and .20s

Or continue to claim that the .12 gram bb is superior to the .20 gram bb because it goes faster, but truly you are naive to the damage it does to your AEGs...;)

you think that wal-mart bb's are the best bb's to buy

brandon
03-15-2007, 04:07 PM
That kind of goes along with the .12's are superior than .20's. And absolutely anything that has to do with walmart and airsoft means that you are possibly a noob, with the exception of small propane tanks to use with ur new propane adapter for ur gas gun.

How bout something like this...

"I am opening a field that my dad used to own, but sold to some guy, who doesn't know we're playing there, but we'll be ok because the only way anyone would know were their is if they are driving by and happen to look to there left and see us, which almost never happens, but it is in plane view of a county road and teh cops are cool with it because if they come out, we'll just put our orange tips back out and hide from them and they can't do anything too serious because were all 14 and 15 and you don't need full face protection just close your eyes when a BB is shot at you and the FPS limits are 550 or until you pass out from the pain and the cost per person is $80, but if you want it to be realistic like Irene or somethin, bring your trucks and realsteel and fire them in the air for added realism. LOL!!!111133311 :)"

Top Five Signs of an Overly-Large Noob Population on a Forum:

5. There are at least five threads with the exact same topic.
4. Every third thread you read includes one or more posts telling somebody to search or google something.
3. There is a newbie section.
2. Do I even have to mention l33t speak? Or do you already know where I'm going?
1. People create threads about the noobs in the forum.
:D

I would consider the AO Mods to be like the Justice League....
Fox is Batman with extra room on his utility belt
Dman is Flash because he's quick on replying to threads.
Greaseman is like Wonder Woman because he uses...a lasso...or was it something else that rhymes with lasso?
Gertie is like that Winged Chick that goes around clobbering people with a Mace.
NextMayor is the Green Lantern...he wears a ring and flashes green...
Locutus is Superman...he can fly, look through stuff, and do amazing things, but his weakness is Kryptonite - Stupidity.
Loki is Aquaman...because he sends noobs to swim with the fishes...wait, what exactly can Aquaman do? Oh yeah...nothing but figure into a plot line that doesn't really matter. But hey, he has this cool hook hand...

Yeah...maybe its more like Justice League Unlimited - a few memorable characters and dozens of nobodies that you can't really remember and don't bother trying.

For the love of God Brandon, you posted 6 responses on page 1, which generaly did not contribute or advance the topic of the post. Posting in such a way is also considered "Noobish" and generally frowned upon. And I've noticed you do it a lot. LoL. Might want to start watching yourself.

Loki, you might want to add "Feeling the need to comment on every single forum post, even though you have nothing important to say and don't have any intentions to advance the theme of the thread." LoL

And as far as the pronoucing Tokyo Marui, Tokyo is not actually pronouced Toe-kee-ok, but is pronouced Toke-yo (toke toke, hah!). Marui is pronouced Mah-Roo-E, but you might hear people in Japan saying Mah-Loo-E as they have difficulty with R's and L's. So Toke-yo Mah-Roo-E for all you Noobs out there!

Darkstar out.

The top seven ways you know you are a "veteran" or "experienced" airsofter:

7. Your mom loaned you enough money for you and your buddies to get official team shoulder patches.
6. Your state of the art airsoft rig is worth twice the value of your POS car.
5. You have spent endless hours on ebay in order to buy the newest camo patterns (such as desert tigerstripe) which will never see combat by U.S. troops.
4. You have no sense of humor at the big games and walk around with a sneer on your face all day.
3. Your teammates all have matching gear, making you "professionals".
2. You spend countless hours watching "Dallas SWAT" and imitate their poses in front of your mirror. You "train" your teammates on how to pose so you all look "tactical".
1. All of your co-workers at save-a-lot think you actually served in combat.

I use classics!

Another is when you put up a want to buy add for an M60 but are only willing to spend $75.

Or when you buy the "tacticul uber l33t navy seal marine army m4 m16 sniper gun" from ebay for $10 and expect it to actually work out of the box...

Or when it takes you a few weeks to realize that you signed up for airsoft ohio using a different email account and wonder why you never got the registration email with your password on the one you use most... oops...

10.) You show up at an event with a clear plastic springer or LPEG
9.) You refuse to acknowledge that your WELL is an LPEG and claim that it is better than anything Tokyo Marui can put out
8.) You ask how to build an M134 Minigun
7.) You post things completely irrelevant to the topic at hand
6.) You ask multiple times in an event thread if you can borrow someone's gun the day of the event
5.) You get in petty fights with other members over silly issues that took place on other forums
4.) You post in the events section saying that you are holding a super-ultra MILSIM game, yet you know nothing about MILSIM, the property you are using doesn't even belong to you, you are 14 years old, you don't know anything about safety or liability, and you use springers
3.) You post videos of yourself on Youtube doing stupid things, then post them on this forum and say that what you are doing is "cool," but by the end of the day you end up banned by Loki.
2.) You get banned by Loki your first day here
1.) Your mom is Mary McCarty of the Dayton Daily News

Well, as usual, one guy had to take offense to this a ruin the fun for the rest of us, so I'm going to lock this down, so as to not seem as though I'm some kind of thug or anything.

I would like to note though that I was once a noob myself, and posted these very things I was joking about (well, most of them).

Half of the point of this was to educate people anyway. Nobody reads the rules, I figured I'd try a different approach.

Anyway, locked.
