This was just a general thought that came to mind, but would it be possible to create an updated/combined version of the Newbie and Airsoft FAQs in Powerpoint form for downloading? I was just thinking that maybe it would be a little easier for new players to understand with it being more of a visual form of the FAQ instead of endless paragraphs of text. I'd be willing to put some time into creating such a thing.

I'm open to any suggestions.

Powerpoint is part of the MS Office application, an application that cost several hundred dollars. The file size would also be large enough to discourage downloading.

I think your intent is good, but you would need to find a better medium than powerpoint.

We could create a flash program of some-sort. Texx would know more about this than myself.

You could just make an actual web page out of the information, integrating text and photos. If you just submitted something in html format, I'm pretty sure an administrator could slap it into the php that we use on the site.

There are really two ways to display Flash Content on the site.
Admin allows HTML, which also can become a security concern.
Admin adds coding for a flash tag ([flash ] and [/flash ]) which requires some additional scripting but not more than about 5 minutes of work.

While a flash program might be "spiffy" it's a project that requires a bit of work. And no, I understand how its done, but have not done any flash work in almost two years, and that was simply to create an MP3 player that required very little actual coding. I don't even have FlashMX anymore.

HTML would be far easier. Quite frankly, just setting up an updated FAQ in chapters would probably be the best. You are far more likely to retain the information in the FAQ by reading it than from a stylish spiffy cartoon...

If you want the Powerpoint feel, create the project in Powerpoint, then capture each slide as an image and add them to "blank" HTML pages. Add Back and Next navigation, maybe a TOC, and there you have it: a nice visual presentation with ease of navigation and a small footprint.

If you want to simple animation without having to mess with Flash, there's always the good old animated gif...
