Are z87.1 ANSI goggles good enough for airsoft with springers?

Yes, you can
According to DumboRATs Newbie Guide:
Alternatively, you can use actual "tactical goggles" that meet or exceed ANSI Z87.1 1989 impact resistance standards (this claim should be enclosed with the goggle, printed on the box, or described in the catalog you are ordering from). I'd personally Recommend the T800s/TurboCAMs: http://www.lightfighter.com/generic.html?pid=116

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the t800s are nice but the $75 price tag is a bit too high. I think I'll just use my 75 cent goggles for a while, even though the fog up until I'm totally blind.

What the hell do you know, Texx? ;)
Seriously though, I agree. Getting a thousand dollars worth of gear and dropping two grand on weapoins will only be money thrown away when you're blind. Your goggles should be where you really splurge. I was lucky enough to find a pair of T-800's for $40 and the replacement lenses only cost about $30. Good deal there.

Dude I am all for saving a few bucks, but this is your EYES (you will need the font this big if you are using $.75 goggles)we are talking about.
Spend the extra dollars and get some good goggles!!

I can't afford $40 dollar goggles. These cheap goggles work, the are ANSI 87.1 and I've tested them at point blank (they just fog up). Right now, my DUMBASS brothers are wearing labglasses for airsoft because they don't like these goggles. I'm trying to find something that will work, and my brothers won't buy anything if it costs more than a dollar, so I have to buy three pair of whatever I decide to use. I was wandering, Would ski goggles work? I will do a point blank test on them, and if they dont break or fog up constantly, it would be great because we all have some nice ski goggles.
Also they are just for springer wars.

If a springer can leave a welt on my arm, it can put your eye out. Yes, I suppose so long as your cheapo goggles are Z87.1 rated and form a full seal around your eyes, they should work. I know Oakley Ski Goggles are Z87.1 rated but I'm not sure about the other brands. Do some research.
Oh, and please don't let your brothers play airsoft. They, and your parents, will thank you even if you rat them out about their completely unsafe eye protection. Valuing your sight at one dollar is pretty... uhm, insane. kthxbye

I did some searching on yahoo and found some cheap ansi z87.1 goggles, tell me what you think.
http://www.expresssafety.com/Goguvex.asp - They have the best prices on some goggles, I guess. I like the "fury" goggles the most (second one down), but they look like they might be kinda crappy. Also, the "stealth" goggles look like okay quality, too.
http://www.rjsafety.com/EH9.html - I think the "5500 UFO Galaxis" look the coolest (bottom). I would get them with black frames and silver lenses. Also, the pair at the top might be pretty good too if you got the fogless.
http://www.sportingspecs.com/goggles.html - They have lots of ski goggles, but only two are ansi z87.1. I might get the chrome ones, they look pretty cool (probably the best) and are only $20.
Remember all of those are ANSI z87.1 or stronger, so I'm not worried about them breaking. What I'm looking for in these is the lowest amount of fog, the looks, perifial vision, being able to see at night, and being able to use rifle sights and scopes.
ps-Please don't flame me about not being able to afford three pair of $40 glasses. I don't see why it matters so much, If ANSI certified them as z87.1 they should be plenty good enough for airsoft with springers.

Yes, i've already decided not to let them wear those anymore. Any of the goggles that I mentioned above were ANSI z87.1 so they're okay right?
ps-did that person lose sight in both eyes? And what gun did that?

No worries, we did that as a test to show people what can happen with unappropriate eye protection. No animals or people were harmed in this test.
The gun in question was a TM M4A1 shooting about 350fps.
And yes, any ANSI z87.1 rated eye protection will be sufficient to stop a BB, however, remember that if your eye protection isn't full sealing, a BB from the side, underneath or from above could always find it's way to your eyeball.

Okay, good that no one got hurt! I figured it was probably a test, but whatever. Anyway, we will probably end up buying a pair of "fury", "stealth", and something else. I was really going to buy the chrome goggles from http://www.sportingspecs.com/goggles.html, but they are sun glasses so I wouldn't be able to see at night. I was also going to get the "5500 UFO Galaxis", but they just looked too cheap.

If you want some inexpensive goggles, there are some at http://www.botachtactical.com/goggles1.html . This one http://www.botachtactical.com/eyesafsysfli.html is only $21.50, and they seem to provide a good, safe seal around your eyes. They are ANSI Z-87.1 certified.

What about the "dust Goggles" here with a headstrap. They seal around the eyes and are ANSI z87.1- http://www.botachtactical.com/aearsplasgog.html
These are for my brothers since they are so cheap.

I guess the Dust goggles with headstrap will work. It states that they are ANSI Z87.1 certified, and it seems like it will provide a good seal around the eyes. The ones with the templates may not be able to stay on securely while running. So just make sure you get the one with the headstrap.

If there is ever a question on the saftey of equipment, especially protection that is geared toward anything valuable, eye sight, teeth, ears, anything of the nature, remember the saying "You get what you pay for".
Believe me, ask anyone, on All Americans, how cheap I am. But when it comes to something that cant be regained like eye sight its worth saving up and buying the better quality goggles or paintball masks.

Just about all paintball masks are safe to use. I remember buying an extremely cheap one way back at walmart and the thing was one tough son of a *****.
