Scenario:
After months of peace negotiations failed, fighting has renewed between the Sudanese Peoples Army “SRP” and the Ugandan militant group Lords Resistance Army “LRA” in the southern provinces of Sudan known as Acholiland. It has become abundantly clear that the SRP is unable to stop the LRA’s brutal incursions into southern Sudan. Although there is a sizeable United Nations peace keeping force located in the Sudan, UN secretary general Kofi Annan seems to allow UN forces to take real action against the LRA. The LRA has been linked to several terrorist bombings in the Sudan capital city of Khartoum. In addition to these bombings, LRA forces are responsible for many human rights violations against the Acholi people including murder, rape, torture, and slavery.
After the brutal murder of an entire group of humanitarian aid workers including famed French actress Ivanna Monet, U.S. President Richard Lewis has been pushed to take action. After a Round Table meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the National Military Command Center, President Lewis has ordered the redeployment of Joint Task force Rapier which is currently involved in training exercises in Egypt. JTF Rapier is made up of elements of the US Army’s 82nd airborne division, 5th Special Forces Group and members of the newly formed Marine Special Operations Command.
JTF Mission:
JTF Rapier is ordered into Southern Sudan to secure US Embassy, drive out LRA forces, protect embassy staff, and provide aid to the Acholi people. In addition, JTF Rapier is ordered to apprehend or eliminate LRA leader Joseph Konni.
