I'll be sure to attempt to attend this event, a friend who's in the chairforce (stationed in South Dakota) will be here then and he'll be driving to ohio so he'll bring his g36c with him. I'll also see if any other guys in Punishers will want to attend.

I'm sure we could find a fat guy to take his shirt off and sing "my milkshake" while juggling his man boobs, that would be a suitable substitute for a cake right? ;) lol

I suppose that will do, although I would rather see blade and/or krayzie play a game in a pink tutu, the sight of them getting lit up in those would be absolutely priceless, and I would have to put a pic of it as my avatar, and would not let them live it down.
So you guys are going to do that right blade? :p

Im sure Blade wouldn't hold a game in Cincinnati. His field is in Springfield and that's always where he holds his events. Airsoft Arms holds events at Red Dragon.

sainitygone,
The people hosting that event are definately not me ;) . We always host our event at Springfield. The event location can be found here; http://airsoftevents.com/events/field.php?event_num=57
I will have the event up on www.airsoftevents.com before the weekend so you guys can register.

06-28-2006, 12:51 PM
I think sanitygone was confused because I told the people at the last Red Dragon event that I was planning to host my next event at Red Dragon on the 8th, but I had yet to post any info about it. Most likely he saw this thread and confused it for another RD event. Since Blade posted a thread about the interest of a game at Springfield the same date as my event, I decided not to post about my event since I don't want to start another b1tchfest 2006 over event conflicts again. IF I get enough local interest, then we might have an event at Red Dragon anyway, but since people want to piss on about event conflicts, it's not going to be made open on AO.
Darkstar out.

On the smokes, I believe you can only use "cold smokes", so the type you are refering to, no.
wait, so is this event milsim only? or what?

in milsim play you can use whatever gun you want. there are just more strict ammo limits.
so i assume it's STAR mags only?

thanks army guy, i was nervous that i wouldn't get to play, because they don't make sg552 star mags

You might want to invest in some woodland anyways...its probably going to be really hot and hot and black don't mix AND Springfield is mostly all woods actually (after the Farm) it is all woods...if you are going to wear black with a Type 96 you are going to stick out...just letting you know from my past experiences with my type 96 and Black BDU

I don't know about this casual event. But the Strikers use a rule that if you are not 18 or older, you cannot use a gun that fires over 400 FPS.

thats weird. why 18 and under?
strikers_blade
07-01-2006, 10:42 AM
Because 18 years old are usually the one with less experience (I said USUALLY) and since most accidents were involving 18 years old and younger, we decided it would be more appropriate. Ultimately, we would need to start giving classes but I am sure most of you would not attend so no choice, a decision had to be taken.
p.s. it is partly why standard AEGs can't use drum mags or M16 can't be 500fps gun with the owner promises to not engage at full auto.

I hope to be there. It'll be my first organized event, but I've got experience with...erm...possibly illegally playing in woods, and--even worse!--with paintball.
I love woodsball, but...airsoft just owns. No CO2 tank or hopper, no accidentally dumping your ammo out of your hopper or pods; just put in a mag and shoot. w00t.

no offense but i can tell ur a noob, no offense. ammo will spill, i have a co2 gun, and yeah i drop the cartriges sometimes, but yeah its way better than paintball, non of that crappy, stinky paint. i know youll have fun i remember my first official event, kicka$$ man. you do have like an AEG right, not like a spring pistol? lol
Ookami
07-01-2006, 08:48 PM
Firepower CO2 pistol (modeled after a USP), and an XM8 AEG. Something wrong with the latter. It shoots, but my bro managed to break the stock so that you can pull it all the way out and something's amiss with the hop-up, too. >(
I admitted to being a n00b to organized events, but feel at least capable otherwise. :D Not good, capable.

I may have some older BDU pants. They're kinda big though and I think one has a tear on the knee. Fortunately, the knees have two layers on BDUs so it's not too big a deal. Heck, you could probably just take some OD duct tape over it and it'll be just fine. :D
Xenos 8
07-02-2006, 01:27 PM
thanks dude, but Son of Liberty was gonna sell me these a long time ago. If he can't come can you let me borrow them maybe. I'd give you some money, thats if he can't come.
Ookami
07-02-2006, 02:03 PM
Well, I'll warn you. I fit 34-36 size waists on my pants, and these BDUs leave me with plenty of room to spare. They do fit with a good solid belt (mine's leather with a double buckle) and if you pull the tabs on the side tight. However, it folds up in various places around the waist when you have it sinched up like that. Know what I mean? lol
If nothing else, they work well for back-up pants if for some reason you can't get your hands on anything else. It never hurts to bring extra clothes to paintball or airsoft, anyway. The worst thing that could happen would be that you need to make a hasty dressing or bandage out of them and you have to use some old BDUs to do the job. :-/
I'll bring 'em. I might even go looking for some more at the thrift store at the local base (I've got access, I'm a dependant stil).

07-02-2006, 08:06 PM
They're just plain woodland. The pants are Navy issue so they aren't the cheap knock off kind. And they're a 34-36 size with a belt they're great. They also have the elastic to tighten. But now to get back on topic. Blade, would you like some scenario ideas to make this alittle more Milsim-ish (If thats a word). But have it still laid back, like the Fran-Bar events. Just give me a jingle if you want an idea. But the Spartans should number uhh lets say 4 at the least 6 at the most.

After having problems with my server, the event is finally up; http://airsoftevents.com/events/event_story.php?event_num=61
I will start answering all questions and give all details within the hours. For now, we can say few things;
- Field fee is $15/player.
- 13 years old and older.
- BDU is required BUT do not have to be a specific color.
- Team will be formed on the spot (depending on who shows up)
- We will play many CQB battles so guns need to be lower than 400FPS
- 400FPS+ weapons reserved for 18 years old and higher.
- No Semi automatic weapons above 450FPS
More details will be posted on www.airsoftevents.com shortly.
p.s. few links and options are not fixed yet but you should not have any problem to at least register.

Mmmm, I can only imagine  ....... How will the teams be split up? BDU requirements? Because on Airsoft Events under the rules section it doesn't say what BDUs are for what side and the ammo limits etc. If I could have those answered please :)

son of liberty, read few posts above;
- BDU is required BUT do not have to be a specific color.
- Team will be formed on the spot (depending on who shows up)
There are no ammo restrictions.

Combatdepot will have some Mres for sale (6.50$/each) with a choice of 6 menus.
you need to bring your own water.
The closest restaurant is about 5 miles away (McDonald).

Water, too, should I fill my canteen prior or is there a water fountain?
Xenos saturday is supposed to be 87 degrees and hotter. I suggest bringing more then just one canteen of water. Go to any store and buy some water to bring with you. Keeping hydrated is the most important thing about saturday. We are all there to have fun and be safe. So bring lots of water or gatorade. If you are straped for cash you can buy a gallon of water for around a buck at Wal Mart and UDF. Also Wal Mart sells 32 oz. gatorage for 84 cents a bottle. So pick up a few. And that goes for everyone else also. Stay hydrated.
Peace

ok, well probably will go to a gas station, we have a total of like 6 canteens for the 4 of us, but we will bring water and gatorade most likely. I noticed in the waiver minimum age is 16, but I thought there wasn't one, or I think I remeber hearing 14 somewhere.

Striker posted up a new link to the 13 year old waiver in his website... would be much better if I got that sooner since I have the original signed.
BTW does that mean ALL original waiver prior to this will be null due to the fact that age change nulls original documents? I am not saying that now everyone whos sue happy can find a loop hole BUT... does it not cause a liability concern in the event of something bad just so happens to occur?
I am no legal expert but I have seen alot of law suits over this sort of thing where one persons document was different to another another and can cause a void just because of one word.
Striker, if you have insurance over this I would suggest contacting them and get a thumbs up to see if the forms will not be null (if you havent already).
To give an example that MIGHT go bad (this is a longshot but heck at the moment cant think of anything else):
Lets say person A is 16 and has the original waiver. Person B is 13 and has the new waiver. A tragic thing occurs in which person A is injured accidentally (not by gross neglegence stated in waiver therfore null) by person B. Person A parents, due to being a minor, is troubled and wants compensation, even though knowing they signed a waiver prior. However they want to see all players waivers (which can be granted) or so happen to find out that there was a waiver change (like coming to AO) and find that persons B waiver states the age of 13 and notice that there sons waiver speciffically states the age of 16 for participation.
Now of course, as you all know there are those people who like to be definition picky. You can interpret it as the participation age for a particular person OR you can interpret it as the participation age as a whole for the event (which I can see it as, and maybe person A's parents). A's parents go and try to sue and get a lawyer. Lawyer compares the documents (copy or orignal) and notice the the age difference as well and gets a judge or any official to consider it null. Parents can sue now which is BAD! for anybody as it can cause a ripple effect with everything else assocciated with the event.
You can get the picture at what I am getting at.
My best bet is to have everyone sign a new waiver as there was a change is the specific wording of the document. You can try proving me wrong but like I said there are those kind of people who want to be sue happy and want to find loopholes if something goes wrong and this can be considered a loohole and all I am trying to do is give a point/address a particular thing that confuses me. And also considering airsoft is frowned upon by much of the general public (im speaking of the public which is usually ill informed and simply dont gve a rats *** over this kind of thing)... yeh take the safe route. Legal documents are tricky and touchy things and can be good some times but bad and annoying the most of the time.
EDIT - Please note that I did see that it says "If players already delivered a 2006 Strikers event within the past 2006 events do not need to resign a new waiver." Since I do not have confirmation from Striker atm that the waivers are alright I decided to address this issue.
Now I am also not saying that anybody that attends will do this as we are all a tight nit community but its the parents of minors that can cause issues. The minors can say all they want and plead not to sue or get invloved but... as parent they are the legally responsible for actions from and/or directed to there child and have the final word.
Please dont attack me again... I am already beat up from the last time I started something like this ; ;

07-06-2006, 10:31 AM
Kurt,
I think you are bringing a very valid point and I will definately address the issue. If you are correct, that mean we have options;
1. Get new waivers at every event.
2. Do not change age limits at all.
For now, we will keep the rules as they are but will have to adjust the waiver for future events. If players below 18yrs did not get the waiver notarized yet, please take the new waiver version.

*Some information from last deleted post has been added here for clarification*
The best option and is safe is having everyone sign this new waiver for this event. It wont become null if every one who comes to this event brings the new one.
Striker if you so happen to have an event in the future that the age limit is 16 it should be covered. You do not need a new waiver for every event. If you do have concerns or worried, making a waiver for every event is definitly a safe route. The wording may need to be changed just to include the specific event and not universal and all documents should be saved just incase something legal does come up. The only reason I brought this all up is that from what I have heard and seen (just a reminder I am still new to airsoft) this is like the first time you had a form wording change and age limit change at the same time.
Adding a set age limit within the form itself can make things a little messy. All other liability forms I have seen do not have set age limits for events located within the waiver (except if your under the age of 18 part but that is NEEDED). The organizers/owners of the fields and events set the age limit rules for that particular event and not within the waiver itself, which is still fine and is covered. Now if someone happens to slip by breaking the age limit rule (which can happen with this waiver and the old one just as easily) it can be considered gross negligence and/or reckless misconduct located in paragraph 4 of your form therefore legal action can be taken against that player breaking the rules.
Striker, if I scared you in anyway I am sorry. I also dont mean to tell you what to do as there are many ways to go around this. I just gave the most simpliest and safest ways.

BOTH the Notary Public and Parental Consent Signature (if parent not present) is needed to participate. Just to clear this up incase there is confusion...
If your parents/legal guardian won't be there to sign infront of Blade, a Notary (a government certified witness) must sign AS WELL as your parents.
If your parents/legal guardian will be there, they must sign infront of Blade (or THEY present a waiver with their signiture, signifying they signed themselves) and NO notary is required.
Any questions? ;)

I wasnt going insane!
Public Notary in the US is a person appointed by state government to serve the public as an impartial witness and to authenticate legal documents. Now I was under the impression that Striker was using notaries to authenticate/legalize his waiver not as a witness. This impression was brought on due to the fact that notaries mainly deal with private transactions and events and its authentication of legal documents. And then there is this fiasco with the typos within the waiver.
I thought Strikers game was one of those type of private events and in which I thought a public notary is required for authentication whether or not a gaurdian will be present (you can see a little bit of that in Decoys post/quote since I deleted the mian body of my earlier thread). Now after the posts by Blackhawk and Decoy I went to made sure I wasnt crazy and happen to find out what role Striker was using notaries for.
Now heres my little question/comment. Striker why the notaries? I know Blackhawk kinda answered my question but many public fields (such as paintball fields) do not require such and I also know you have been doing this for a VERY long time. I mean I can understand the use of them in a hobby such as this and if you want the use of them I honor the fact you are taking the safe route. However doesnt that kind of give off a vibe that airsoft players are not trust worthy?
EDIT - Just remember I will be new to your field and I like to get as much information as possible and feed that info to my father. He wants to know what I am getting into and being a caring father as he is I do not blame him or anyone else regarding this issue.
I would also like to appologize for the much confusion I may have caused by my interpretations.

blade, do the waivers really need to be notarized by the notary public for a low profile event?
strikers_blade
07-06-2006, 06:25 PM
Kurt and Monkey_slap,
To answer both of you;
1. Yes, the waiver have to be sign as soon as a Strikers host the event. small, medium or big event, an accident can always happen and the waiver is the only thing on our side.
2. All airsoft players are trustworthy until an accident happen. If it would have to happen and we would find out the signature was a fake, we could be in deep trouble. Does a notary will avoid lawsuit or troubles? not really but again, there is not much we can do to protect our a$$ again those who think the organizer is always at fault.

All banks have a notary offical. But if you have to have an account at that bank for there not to be a fee. Only the main branches of post offices have a notary offical. And by main branches i mean the county seats (i.e. Hamilton county The county seat is Cincinnati thats is were the main branch of the post office is at also Clermont county the county seat is Batavia that is were there main branch of the post office is at.)
Also you can get anything notorized at a Fed Ex/Kinkos store or a UPS Store many of them have Notary officals.I hope that helped.
